Description
June sat with Kate in the hospital ward in silence as June tried to get used to her new bald look. The forced shave had caused her lose her precious mane and had broken her arm too, so she was looking at a couple days in hospital. Fortunately, she had her friend Kate with her, who was sitting to the side of June’s bed to keep her company, which she appreciated a lot. But now she was jealous of Kate’s beautiful long, brown bob.
June missed her long locks. It had only been a couple hours but she missed the braids and the ponytails that she could do with her red tresses. But they were stolen from her by Patricia and her friends who dragged her behind after school and shaved off most of the waist length hair that she was so proud of. And to add to that, they had broken her arm in the process.
June sighed.
“Oh, I hate having no hair.” June said. “It’s so boring and I look so ugly.”
June looked at her reflection in the mirror beside her bed, unhappy with her new appearance. Kate held her hand.
“Don’t worry about.” She comforted her. “You look beautiful and I’m sure it won’t take long to grow back anyway.”
“It took me six years to get it to that length.” June replied. “And I started at a bob. It’s going to take forever.”
Kate sat up in her chair.
“You know, I heard that shaving your hair actually causes it to grow back faster.” Kate said.
The two laughed.
“So maybe you should do it to and we can grow are hair faster together.” June suggested.
The two laughed even harder.
However, at that moment a familiar face walked up to the door of the ward and entered.
“Oh hey baldy and ugly.”
It was Patricia. Her long blonde locks were instantly recognisable to June as she had been the one to shave off all her hair.
“Or I suppose you’re both ugly now anyway.” She said.
Kate stood up.
“What do you want?” She demanded.
Patricia walked up to a chair and sat down. She crossed her legs and let her blonde strands cover the light blue top that she wore.
“Oh I just wanted to hang out.” She answered. “Can’t a girl just do that? Like, geez. Why are you guys so on edge?”
Kate stared at her while June tried her best to look elsewhere.
“Oh, I don’t know, because you shaved off all of June’s gorgeous hair for absolutely no reason at all?” Kate yelled.
Patricia smiled as she curled her blonde hair around her finger.
“For god’s sake calm down.” She answered. “I did her a favour. She looks… well… not beautiful, but better. You know you should shave your hair too. You might actually look good for once.”
June saw Kate’s face get red.
“Hey, just calm down.” She told her friend. “There’s no point arguing over this. What’s done is done.”
“Yeah, listen to baldy over there.” Patricia said.
However, Kate didn’t listen and walked up to where Patricia sat.
“Apologise.” She demanded.
Patricia smiled.
“Um, no?” She said. “Why the fuck would I do that?”
Kate’s face was as red as a tomato now.
“You apologise right now!” She yelled.
Patricia let go of her hair and looked up at Kate.
“Fine.” She said. “No need to get so worked up about it.”
Patricia got up from the seat and walked past Kate towards where June sat. The blonde sat down on the bed just next to her and flicked out her hair, ensuring that it hit June in the face.
“I’m sure you miss your hair.” Patricia said. “But to be honest, only one long hair queen can exist at one. Which is me.”
June didn’t reply.
“Oh stop bring such a fussy boots.” Patricia encouraged. “No one wants one of those.”
Yet again, June didn’t reply. Opting instead to look in the other direction. At this, Patricia gathered up all her golden locks to one side and began to stroke them.
“So.” She continued. “From now on you will have your cut permanently down to a buzz. Any longer and I will do it myself. Do i make myself clear?”
June didn’t reply, so Patricia leaned closer.
“Do I make my self…”
June felt something hard hit her lap. She looked around to see a blonde mess lying on her and Kate standing over her.
“Thank god she stopped talking.” Kate said.
June looked at the unconscious Patrica. Her hair covered almost the entire bed where she sat.
“What did you do?” June asked with concern.
Kate held up a syringe.
“Oh nothing.” She answered. “Just some anaesthesia.”
Kate pulled Patricia off of June. Her golden strands flew everywhere.
“Sorry about that.” Kate said. “Just can’t stand her.”
June looked confused.
“What are you going to do?” She asked.
Kate sat Patricia down in her original seat and her hair covered everything within a close proximity.
“Well, I don’t know how long she’ll be out for.” She answered. “So I’ll have to make her punishment quick.”
“You’re not going to cut her hair are you?” June asked.
Kate stopped.
“Nope.” She said. “Worse.”
At that she reached into her pocket and pulled out a razor.
“No way.” June said with disbelief.
Kate dragged her chair over to the sleeping rapunzel and turned on the razor. The buzz was a noise all too familiar to June, except this time she couldn’t wait for the hair to be cut. Kate lifted Patricia’s head and admired her face.
“Aw, she does have a pretty face.” She commented.
June laughed as Kate raised the razor up and put it to Patricia’s forehead. Next, as June watched in disbelief, she pushed the razor down the middle of the rapunzels scalp. June watched in awe as all the hair fell to the ground, no longer attached to Patricia’s head. It was a beautiful sight, a rapunzel no more. Kate ensured that she got every last hair and turned off the razor.
“Done.” She said with relief. “Now we have two bald queens.”
The two friends shared a laugh as they admired the bald Patricia.
“She does look good bald.” June commented.
“Yeah… but I’m sure she won’t see it that way.”
The two burst out into a louder laugh.

Patricia woke up a couple hours later.
“Oh, hey sleepy.” Kate said.
Patricia looked around at them.
“What did you do to me?” She asked sleepily.
Kate smirked.
“Is it cold up there?” She asked.
Patricia froze. She slowly reached her hand up to her head. A deafening scream filled the hospital, much to June’s delight.
