It's been quite a while since I've had a chance to paint something for myself. Been doing realistic type commissions for fellow grad students, so I wanted to do something unrealistic for a change.A lot of technical errors in this one (including some flat out crazy lighting screw-ups) but overall, I'm happy with it since the basic idea and tone of the pic came through pretty well. Much thanks to and for their help and suggestions. And man, there's gotta be an easier way to do dragon scales....
The usual. Done in Photoshop from beginning to end. No references for this one.

Simply amazing. I love your work. You really don't use any references for these things? How did you do the dragon scales that you're complaining about them? lol How did you do the lampshade? I really wish I could see these things step by step, I am just so enchanted by your finished products! Wow. Sheesh, I almost feel redundant praising your work, but this is absolutely amazing! I'm mostly impressed that you did all with photoshop. That must have taken forever. But the effects are awesome. All of the textures and the cast lighting is expertly done. I am in awe, like doubtless so many others of your admirers. Please do more. I soak up good artwork like a sponge. Ah, this piece is so nice! I think I'll bask in its golden glow for a moment...

this looks like someone out of the dragon riders of pern stories...with the gold firelizard/dragonet creatures...this looks INCREDIBLE. i love how your gold looks like gold and your metal looks like metal--and i think i need to own that furry-colared dress.

hehe, i LOVE designing costumes, especially ones that would never work out with gravity--or i just get lazy and rip off some awesome design from Vogue or something *tsk tsk*
and those pern books-- i read 'em all in 8th grade (daaaaays ago!), and they're great. you can really get into them.

The colors are magnificent O_O I really can't decide where to look first, so many details, from the cracks in the wall to those neat little scales of the dragon, the parchment, it all fits so nicely together - amazing atmospere you created with the lamp and the contrasting colors from outside of the window. *fave*
