i like the way the fingers wrap around the eye, it's almost as if they create a facial context for it, making it look like it's captured in a eternal frown.
also, amazing job on the iris, the spot of light adds to the overall realism. also, the red veins in the back were a nice touch.

This is a common concept for me, and usually the hand grows out of the ground, so the wooden comment makes sense to me.

And I think it's an interesting concept. There's often a concistency (spelling in English? hm) in your works which works well and makes it beautiful to look at and think about.
