They call this the Bubble Dress. The costume Glinda wears in the opening and closing of Wicked.Its the most expensive costume in the show, its worth $35,000!!!
And one day, I am going to wear it. On Broadway. Oh yes!

In New York a few years ago. They did a tour of the Gershwin Theater (where Wicked plays) called Behind the Emerald Curtain

that's sad. i really wish i could see a show with her in it. one of my high school teachers was slamming rent one day and i asked her when she'd gone to see it. she said a couple weeks after the origional came out. i was pissed. i was like "you walked out on the origional cast of rent?!?!?!" i didnt talk to her for a while after that...yeah. well, at least you got to see shoshana. i would just like to see it.

they've altered it sadly. in the show nowadays, there is no frills around the shoulders, and the adtual arm band bits and the skirt itself is more poofy. but it's still gorgeous

That costume is simply gorgeous. You can't really see it well in the promotion pictures for the show, but this image of it is GORGEOUS.

Hey Wicked lovers, I'm working with the WICKED Costume Office right now to produce Elphaba's SHIZ costume for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Broadway Bears auction. I admit that I've been a WICKED fan from it's inception, but mainly because of my work with RENT and getting to see Idina move on to something else THIS big. Match that with my love for Oz and I was on cloud 9! Anyway, Kristen told me once that she would inadvertently find herself picking the sequins off of her costume when she was on stage...a habit that she didn't even know she had until it was pointed out! If anyone is wondering about the details, the gown isn't one piece. It's a bodice and seperate skirt. It's made from a white and pale blue iridescent glissenet and is sprinkled with (countless thousands) of hand-sewn sequins (on a net overlay) in various sizes (and five shades blue and sheer). She wears double strapped silver leather heels, a white glissenet petticoat with three wide rows of scalloped lace and a white tulle petticoat that gives the bustle effect on the sides of the gown. This is, by far, one of my favorite stage costumes. They've had to change her costume over the years. Glinda now has a much fuller skirt, made up of individual "petals" instead of the scalloped, 5 tiered skirt she once had. Susan Hilferty used an old DIOR gown as inspiration for Glinda's incarnation, so i'm wondering if it had anything to do with copyrights. Just some food for thought!

Also, can I use these as references for the WickedRecast? (which I started working on again =D finally, talk about slack of me )

You should have seen me when I walked up the stairs and saw them just sitting there for me to see! I got all jittery and shakey and I was all, "OMG! OMG!!! ITS THE BUBBLE DRESS!!!!" and I like, ran up to it and was like, "I want to touch it sooooo bad!!!" Haha!
