The river is many things. Still waters can be welcoming, a sweet reprive from the world. Deep waters are mysterious, and you never truly know what lies beneath the surface until you are neck deep and it is too late to turn back. Mere footsteps to the south, the very same river can be violent, twisting with an unexpected fury and claiming lives with frightening ease. All of these things, and more besides, are also true of Una - much more like a river than a wolf.

More than anything else, she is unpredictable. The very definition of wild. She makes snap decisions, led by her heart and a sense of feeling something instead of her head or rational thought. She lives for adventure and despises routine, unable to see the appeal in repitition of the same old thing day after day until you die. Life is for living, and in the little time we have to live it, there is so much more to see that the edges of the pack you were born in. The boundaries built to keep you in as much as to keep strangers out.

There is something in her bones, in her blood - she feels the call of the forest, the ocean, the sky, and she cannot contain it. The earth makes her feel small and yet as though she is part of something so much bigger, more powerful, inscrutible. Una cannot tie herself to any one place for too long, because eventually the paths become worn, and nothing much satisfies her any longer. Wandering the land and taking what she wanted were the values she was taught at birth, and they yet linger, giving her little respect for the borders of packs. She goes freely, rarely considering any consequence, though instinct of course encourages her to avoid danger. She reveres the land more than anything else, and cares only about keeping the balance, reading the signs that the earth gives to her.

For the most part she has always found her bonds with other wolves to be inconsequential compared to her bonds with the earth, and as such, others find her flighty and difficult to warm to. She is mysterious and secretive, and often unwilling to reveal any detail about herself or her life. She is a multi-layered creature; there is something about her that many find magnetising, perhaps her lust for life or the breath of fresh air she breathes into stagnant life. It can be easy to fall under her spell, to find the mystery exciting. She is a skilled conversationist, and you could easily be forgiven for thinking that you might have common ground to build a friendship, but she will usually be carried away by the next ocean breeze or the tangible flap of an eagle's wing. Una is adaptable, effortlessly taking the unexpected in her stride.

Despite her depth, she finds many things incomprehensible. Love, for one thing, is a foreign ideal to her, and pack bonds also make little sense, thanks to her somewhat fractured upbringing. Her company can be enjoyable at face value, but those who seek deeper connections may struggle to find what they need from her; she cannot devote her life to another and she will be someone she is not for the benefit of someone else. She does not do this with malice. She simply does not know how to give the support and strength that many wolves crave from their companions. That isn't to say that she cannot feel things deeply; she does feel, with every inch of her body and soul, but very differently to those around her. The first drop of rainfall and the crashing of an ocean wave bring powerful emotions over her, while the confession of love from another could easily be swatted aside with indifference.

On occasion, she can be hit by a incongruous sense of loneliness, a result of only making bonds with things that cannot truly speak or listen. Despite this, she still does not actively seek friendships - she expects that other wolves are not enough for her, and that they cannot understand her heart or see the world through her eyes. It could be said that she wants more from life than any wolf or pack can offer her, though time will tell. There is a great deal more of the world to see yet.

It is hard to say if she could ever be loyal to another, because there is no-one she has known long enough to even begin to earn her trust.

For all her percieved fragility, the way she holds other wolves at arms length and the relative calm composure with which she holds herself, Una can be mercilessly violent. It takes a great deal of time and effort to kindle anger within her, but when the spark catches, it is unstoppable. She is by no means a large wolf, or a powerful one, but she is quick, sharp, relentless. This side of herself troubles her greatly, and she will go to great lengths to keep it hidden. She admires oceans and rivers for their vastness, their depth of being, their mystery - not for the ease with which they take lives. This is the only way in which she does not wish to be like the element she feels the closest affinity for.
