Description This was an image from Week 16. [link] was the photo I used but I actually like this one much more. I didn't use it initially because the focus is too soft for my likings but I posted it on FB and it had a good response so... here it is! Once again, I love the effect the sunlight through the tree branches gives. And I'm wearing my boyfriend's jumper which makes me love this photo a whole lot more. Stealing boyfriends' clothing is one of the great joys of being in a relationship.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of this, particularly as I've pointed out the soft focus. Does it detract from the image for you? Many photographers use it deliberately. I admit this was an accident I attribute to how damn hard it is to shoot self-portraits but I'm now curious as to its effects.

This is one of my favorites from your self-portraits.

Oh thank you very much! I'm always interested to know people's favourites because they are so subjective.

The soft focus works fine here, in my opinion - the key point being that it looks slightly front-focused rather than back-focused, but that there's nothing in front of you to steal the attention away. If the background 'popped' more it might pull the shot away from you. As it is, the sharpest part is around your eyes, and that works well.

I agree with you, I like this one a lot better than the other one. I think the soft focus suits this picture well. Beautifully done, my dear!

Thanks! This one is the one Ill be putting in my book in the end of the year, rather than the other Week 16.
