They should work on some Monster designs based off of the ancient prehistoric beasts. Things so Primeval and powerful the mind has no recourse but to shudder in bewilderment at the archaic and frightening shapes they take. Things that would require a sanity meter just to see them.
Like the final boss of The Ocean Hunter.

In my eyes, the title of Elder Dragon goes to something with immense power, something so ridiculous it can alter the environment it's in just by being there. Nakarkos is described as being able decimate ecosystems thanks to its immense appetite, so maybe that's why?
Again, you do the Elder Dragons so much justice, seriously. Your depiction of everybodies' favorite squid thing is jaw dropping. The background and textures make it seem like some eldritch beast that has descended from the cosmos to wreak havoc on our world. Great stuff! 😁

Considering they also classed the Yama Tsukami as an elder dragon (despite being a god damned flying cephalopod/island), along with Kirin the electric HORSE, I'm thinking the "Elder Dragon" classification is where guild scholars stick all their "its not a bug, crab, or wyvern, so fuck if WE know how to classify it" cases. They only JUST added a category for snakes, after all! At least the bone squid PRETENDS to be a dragon.
That aside, this is a damned beautiful depiction of the gross bastard, and I love it~

Well, if you research the mythological origin of the Kirin ( or Quilin ) you'll see that it is indeed a dragon.
