Description Why do people love sunsets so much? What makes people stop in their tracks and just want to watch it? Why do we photograph it and hang it on our walls, put it on our desk tops, and phones?

Is it just because they are pretty? A nice little light show at the end of the day to send us off to our beds with a smile on our faces?

Is it because they remind us how very small we are, and how our world, our sky is such a very big place?

Maybe it's because they signify the end of a period of time. It's a short period of time; a day. But a lot can happen in a day. We have good days and bad days, and often both rolled into one. But we always say "tomorrow is another day" and the sun setting is a sign of that. Life starts anew each new day.

For some people maybe it is spiritual. I gentle reminder that there is something bigger and infinitely wiser and more powerful than us!

For others, it brings warm feelings of love and romance. The sky lights up with the colours of heat and passion, and awakens that feeling within us.

I think for me, it's all of the above. A little bit of everything. Maybe some nights more of some reasons than others.

Watching the colours come alive and change brings out some sort of peace in me. Even if I've had a terrible day, watching a beautiful sunrise can make me feel so much better. At peace. Calm. Wistful and even... joyful! My troubles seem to melt away and are replaced with a feeling of well being. It's like a nice warm hug.....

Often I wonder about what all the other people in the world are doing. The ones who are too busy to stop and enjoy it, and I feel sorry for those people, because they are missing out on the greatest show on Earth.

Very cool image, Sandie and I agree with your comments--even though there are many times I'm going to opposite direction that a sunrise or sunset. In those cases the mirrors get a lot of use

LOL! I had a terrible time with cutting that little bugger out and cleaning up the edges. I suppose if I did it more I'd get better at it, but I was pretty clumsy at it.

I'm holding my breath.. ..hurry.... turning......blu........e......

Very creative and well visualised piece Sandie,I don`t catch as many as the folk who live along the flats and beside the coast but you`re so right, there is something magical about a good set that you simply can`t turn your head away from
Beautiful job all round!

Thank you Jonny!! I'm so glad you like it!

I'd been thinking about doing a few things with this little man (remember I mentioned a while back that I had an idea for something??) but geez- I felt very clumsy with this and it's not exactly how I wanted it to be. But I guess if I keep at it I might get better at it.

THis was taken at home at the lake where we go every summer. I wish I could visit it more often!

Love the photo! Your words are beautiful and so true. I have a quote under my Deviant ID: Those who dwell, as scientists or laymen, among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life. It's by Rachel Carson. The people that don't notice and appreciate the natural things around them must have an empty space inside of them.
