Description
Living in Gotham City has its faults, but it’s not as bad as people make it out to be. I mean sure, there’s a few crazies running around every once and a while, but aside from that, and the lack of sunlight, it’s a generally decent place to live. College isn’t that different of a story, living on campus has its perks, mostly due to the fact that there’s around the clock security.

Unfortunately for you, tonight was different. The alarm really should’ve tipped you off that the guard system was down, but that adventurous spirit that you have within you would never let you leave without deciphering what was going on. So you ran the opposite way of your classmates, straight to the security office.

Once stepping inside, you gasped, as you noticed two security guards, shot in the head, lying face down on their key boards. At this point, any sane person, that wasn’t going into criminology, would call the police, and pray that they wouldn’t be shot next. Though, where is the fun and sense of adventure in that? So, you continued your trek to find the person responsible for causing the school to be evacuated.

You stealthily wandered down the abandoned halls of the campus, until you heard movement. Finally feeling nervous about your own well-being, you took a few relaxing breaths, and continued to walk, until you reached the door that the noises where coming from. You stood beside the doorway, nervous to run into the person with the gun, so, you listened. You heard a multitude of grunts of pain, and heavy breathing, making you decide that, if they’re in pain, it’ll be easier to… to…well, you’d cross that bridge when you got there.

Unsatisfied with the idea of improvising with someone wielding a gun, you searched in the hallway for something, anything that you could use to keep yourself safe. Unfortunately, your hopes of finding a casual Katana on the ground where useless, so you went in with your fists, I mean hey, it’s something right?

You slowly opened the door, to see two men, one with a black bodysuit on, with a blue bird on it, who immediately clicked in your head as Nightwing. The other man, due to the angle he was standing, couldn’t see you, as his back was turned to the door. You quietly walked in the room, ready to knock this guy out from behind, when, from the corner of your eye, you saw Nightwing’s facial expression change slightly, causing the other man in the room, to whip around and spot you.

“Working with an accomplice, eh?” The man, who you now realized was Two-Face, said, as he aimed his gun at you. Your eyes widened in fear, as you stared down the barrel of a gun.

“Actually-“ Nightwing started, but was cut off by Two-Face continuing the speak.

“Y’know, I always thought you Bat-Brats liked to stick to keeping your eyes covered, but I guess, its always nice to try something new.” Two-Face mused to himself, “So, I’m gonna try something new.” You looked at Two-Face, confusion plastered on your face, as you saw him move the gun to the side, and legit baseball swing the barrel straight into your head, which knocked you out cold.

“Hey.” A soft voice said to you, waking you up from your daze.

“Hmm?” You asked, sitting up slightly, and then you realized that you were sitting, strapped to a chair. “Oh, would you look at that.” You said, looking over to Nightwing, noticing he was also bound to a chair. “I know why I’m tied up, but how’d you manage this?” You ask, awkwardly trying to make yourself more comfortable.

“Harvey said the only reason he attacked here was to get Batman’s attention, so I offered to be tied up so he wouldn’t hurt you, until Batman shows up, basically we’re both bait.” Nightwing said, smirking slightly.

“Wow, you’re quite the sweet-talker.” You said sarcastically.

Nightwing laughed, a full, happy, content laugh, regardless of how unfortunate the situation that we are currently in. “Well, it’ll be a nice opportunity to get to know you.”

“Excuse me?” You asked, feeling fairly amused with the potential conversation with Nightwing.

“What? Not in the mood to make a friend?” Nightwing asked, feigning innocence, you smirked.

“Not really, I kinda want to back to my dorm, and sleep…” You said, looking pointedly at Nightwing.

“Well,” Nightwing said, trailing off, “It might take a while…”

“Why?” You asked, sounding more annoyed than you had planned.

“Because, Batman was busy, which is why I am actually here, so I’ll take your thank you in the form of your name, your cell phone number and-“

“You realize that if I get a random number texting me, I’ll be able to figure out your secret identity.” You said, tilting your head to the side.

“Because you’re obviously a criminal mastermind that can hack my cell phone to the point where you can figure out who owns it, right?” Nightwing asked, looking at you with his amused face, even covered by a mask, you could still see how happy he actually was.

“Fine, I see your point, but I’ll just give you my name right now, okay?” You said, your tone sounding a bit snippy. You recoiled, the harshness of your words, and quickly continued talking, “Sorry,” You apologized, “My name’s (F/n), (F/n) (L/n).”

“Pleasure to meet you (F/n).” Nightwing said, smiling brightly at you.

“You too.” You said, sounding slightly awkward. You quickly changed the subject and return the matter at hand. “So, uh, can we escape, or…” You trailed off.

“Oh, yeah, sure, I’ve actually been untied for majority of this conversation anyways.” Nightwing said, standing up easily, holding the ropes in his hands. Nightwing walked over to you and untied you. “There you are, (F/n).” He looked at you again, the seemingly ever present smile was still on his face. “Now, let’s get outta here.” You complied, and followed him out the door.

“Where is Two-Face anyways?” You asked, “Like did he tie us up, then casually go outside to wait for Batman?”

Nightwing laughed again, “Nah, he’s around here somewhere, the trick is, being quiet so he won’t find us.” He said, lowering his voice to a whisper. You smirk, but agree to keep quiet.

In doing so, you and Nightwing found yourselves wandering aimlessly around your college, until it dawned on you, Nightwing had no idea where he was going.

“Yup, you’re lost.” You said, chuckling slightly as his facial expression went from confident, to wounded.

“How’d you catch on?” He asked you.

“I go here, I can tell when we go down we go down the same hallway three times.” You said, grinning at Nightwing’s slice of humble pie.

“Alright Miss (L/n) lead the way.” Nightwing said, mocking a bow in your direction.

You took the lead, looking for the closest exit, unfortunately for the two of you, you took Nightwing to the exit that Two-Face was standing at.

“Great navigational skills and all, but I thought we decided to escape without telling Two-Face.” Nightwing said, you could basically hear the smirk in his voice.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” You replied, “I guess I didn’t hear you right. You retorted.

"Oh it's fine, I just have to deal with a minor problem..." Nightwing said, trailing off as he ran to Two Face. "Hiya Harv! Hope you don't mind if I take this." He said happily taking his gun away from him. "I'll call Bats and he'll be here in five." He said and pranced toward you. "We can go now. Harv is just gonna chill here."

"We can just leave him, he killed people, shouldn't we wait for Batman?" You asked, finally changing from the sarcastic girl, so someone who has finally caught on to the danger going on.

"Oh, no need to wait, Bats is right," Nightwing trailed off for a second and pointed above, "there! Time to go!" Nightwing said and pulled on your arm as you exited the campus.

After leaving the campus, Nightwing said he'd take you home, but once you reminded him you live in dorm, and home wasn't the best option at the time, Nightwing agreed and instead took you to a small cafe about three blocks away.

"So how do you intend to do this?" You asked, smirking slightly about the obvious fact that he's still in full Nightwing garb.

"I thought we'd go inside and discuss life over coffee, isn't that how first dates typically go?" Nightwing said, flashing his famous smile at you.

"You might want to get changed first." You reply with a laugh. Nightwing's mask lenses widened as he realized that he was still in full costume.

"Well this changes things." He said laughing lightly. He then regained his composure and leaned against the doorframe of the café, "so, about your number..." He said trailing off, and you could tell you were going to have a lot of fun hanging out with Nightwing.
