This inspire Bismarck to support a reorganisation of the Thuringian states under a new King to facilitate the Customs Union and the creation of a new state in the line of the historical Thuringia (and promotes the unification of the German Reich).

This initiative is perceived by Austria as a move towards Prussian hegemony against Austria. The Austro-Prussian War has the same outcome except than France openly support Prussia and Hanover stayed neutral during the conflict.
