Description This is my first piece at deviantArt, although I have periodically snooped around since its inception. I have been working on this for a while. The image background is done in photoshop, while the rest is illustrator. I think there will still be some improvements made, I would like to spend more time on the deer's eyes. Eventually it will be printed and trimmed down to a full-bleed tabloid-sized print. Full critiques and constructive criticism welcome.

Note: I edited this so that the main color is brown now instead of (as the thumbnail shows) black. Let me know which you like better.

I really like the color scheme, and the outline in the brown. what do you plan on using this image for? that might help critique.

I plan on printing the image on either Super A3 (13x19") or Tabloid Extra (12x18") premium paper. Then possibly sell a few, not really for much profit, more just because I like the idea of others having my work in their homes.

I would buy one, I realllllly like the color scheme, esp the brown outlining. I have a rule in my own art work never to use black with color designs because it just... makes it muddy. i guess you could play with the eyes if you like, but i think they're fine. just please dont make thme into giant anime/chibi eyes, hah!

Beautiful. Seems to get a little disjointed and patchy along the bottom with the leaves, I think it might have helped to reverse some of them (make them brown with white outlines). Overall well put together, though.

I really like this. The colour scheme is the main appeal for me but the general theme is powerful... I'm a sucker for natural themes. I think for that reason the brown fits better but there was something I liked about thr brown, pink, white colours (however used they may be)

Thanks for all the great comments, I agree that the brown is better. I'm glad everyone likes it so much. I plan on continuing more with this style, I just need more free time. Anyways, please keep the critiques coming. Anything you don't like? or you find weak? if this was a print (not neccessarily a deviant print) would you buy it?

All critiques are appreciated.

That is quite lovely, it's like different aspects of nature. You have the flora and the fauna. The brown colour looks good, it is more down to earth and blends in, black is always so stark... But brown is perfect. This must have taken a long time, there is so much detail in it: especially with the leaves, many different shapes and styles of shading. And the deer looks majestic there--- the whole image is very nicely composed, and... the colour scale seems to work quite nicely. The colour separation with the farthest background and the foreground is so noticeable, they're like clearly on different layers. The whole image is rather layered, actually, I mean... Seems to have depth. First the leaves, then the dear, trees... etc. This is quite pleasant to look at, indeed. Good!
