Dangit, the implication of fluttershy having a toy from every single animal she's ever had that's passed away is horrible :*(

But yeah, old pet supplies can take up room quickly...! Still, I often find they're handy if one suddenly gets landed with a new animal's care, which I imagine Fluttershy could relate to.

Oh, gosh. And our guinea pig was sick the past few days, too. Startling thought, but athe same time not that unusual, considering her job.

And yeah, my years of being a pet owner have given me boxes and drawers full of pet accessories. Means I'm well set for just about any animal I might suddenly get landed with though (e.g. if I rescue something from the cats)!

Oh, he's eating okay now, but he's lost a lot of weight, to the point you can feel the bones of his spine when you pet him. He still purrs, though, so at least he's happy now. And old. Very old for cavy standards.
I suppose just pet rescue will do that with a person's inventory. I hadn't considered the perspective of Fluttershy just being anxious about the day she might need those supplies for an animal in need, rather than the idea that the animals she had those for died. That's a lot more of a positive note.
Makes me want to reach in and hug her, even. In a friendly comforting sort of way, of course.

I think getting old supplies for a rescue animal can be a mix of both "I hope they'll be okay" and "I miss the previous owner of these items". The pic's also meant to be ambiguous about whether the dog toy she's holding is one she's getting out or putting away. Plus sometimes people hold tokens on remembrance just for comfort, no?
And your cavy sounds lucky to have someone like you in his old age.

I never thought about that before but i wonder if Fluttershy would constantly have cobweb all over her house because she didn't want to clear then unless she knew for sure a spider wasn't occupying them. I'd be so paranoid in a house like that

This isn't so much about the webs though, those were just to show that they're old pet supplies. I have drawers and boxes full of stuff like that myself (I've had a lot of pets), which is handy should I suddenly need to set up a cage for an animal (e.g. if I rescue something from cats), but it's still handling stuff that belonged to past pets of mine. There's also when such accessories lose their owners and get put into storage like that.Β I mean, it's nice that I can reuse things, but at the same time it makes me remember...
