Description
"I will always remember that day… Sarah and I had reached the old temple ruins, guided by the sweet melody of the world. In the dim moonlight, dancers were moving harmoniously, and it seemed everything around us – the dancers, the trees, the earth itself – were part of something greater, of something beautiful.
A low drum beat added rythm to the natural music. Slowly, liquid fire filled the lines engraved in the statue, covering the Goddess in spirals of light... The drums became louder, and the ground under our feet was now shaking in rhythm. But it was a soothing sound, like a slow heartbeat…
A Mother’s heartbeat.
She opened her eyes, gently smiling to her children. The melody became louder, and the dance more exuberant, filled with joy. She had heard our call… after centuries of sleep, our Goddess had awoken."

This was my entry for this year's Trojan Horse was a Unicorn challenge on ArtStation, in the Student category... Working on it was great, I learned a lot of things! It was a nice opportunity to paint a much more complex illustration than what I usually do. One of my goals was to work with colours from all around the colour weel, while still having an harmonious palette... an other one was to paint multiple characters interacting... I'd say I was pretty successful, even though I need to work more on composition!
A list of the winners can be found here, and some of these pieces are truly great! ...but I'm a bit sad to learn that the beautiful pictures by Niilo Kämäräinen or Inês Toczyska , to only quote two of the contributions I was rooting for, didn't even get honourable mentions... That's life, I guess! I hope those who didn't win (myself included ^^) will have better luck next time!

It's supposed to be an old statue, with stylized arms (and no hands)... she lost her left forearm at some point in the past. But since a lot of people seem to have missed the fact that this is a statue, I must have done something wrong ^^

Good idea... by the way, my theory about statues loosing their nose is that, at some point, a crazy nose collector cut them all off. All these noses are stored somewhere, in a secret nose stash...

Thank you! I wish there was a way to show multiple images as one "deviation", though... I'm usually not very fond of spam ^^
