Art-RPG Featurette: written by shekeira

This month we feature the Drabardi Donkey with decors !

1. Tell us about the breed. What is the story behind its creation?
The story about the Drabardi Donkey started many years ago, back in 2009, so it has been around for 10 years now. At first it was off dA but the group have been on the site since 2012. In late 2016 I decided I HAD to finish it enough so others could join in. It is a slow process to say the least and thank you to all that have helped me so far. Despite being online for quite awhile now the work is slow since its a solo job.

I guess it started due to some 'fun' phrases like "you lucky ass" and then I saw that while there was many player-made horse - and pony breeds as well as many fantasy equines of all kinds - there was not many long ears. At least no active ones.

2. There are many player-made groups out there. What about your breed makes it different from the rest?
Well, it's a donkey. Depending on if you want to have more a realistic flavor or a fantasy one - this donkey can hopefully satisfy both tastes. In pretty much all of its appearance are realistic. A faint colorful "Drabardi hue" can give the basic natural color a different look, and the stronger this hue is -- the more fantasy-like the donkey will become. Many of the markings in this breed taken from real animals to give it more different looks but its not uncommon for the donkey not to have any markings at all, making its appearance pretty much like a "normal" donkey.

The donkey will (hopefully) be released in four sizes, from a mini to a more draftlike type. As of now only the second to largest type is released and in size its like a big pony but like most donkeys they are stronger than they might look.

3. Everyone loves mutations! Tell us about your favorite and the story behind its creation. What does your group like the best?
Aside from the "Drabardi hue" this breed don't really have a mutation. There are magic however, but the elemental magic is only present on those donkeys living on the Island. The "Harpg-donkeys" seem to be more prone to develop a mental magic -- and most often one not really detected by humans (unless the player wish to of course). Many times donkeys are seen as companion animals so this is what I had in mind for giving HARPG Drabardis mental magic instead of elemental. Some are better in dealing with healing bodily wounds, others like an Aerona gifted donkey have the ability to see and understand all forms of mental illness and are perfect for both human and horses alike. A good thing to have in the barn if your horse is nervous -- or if your rider have experienced some trauma of some kind.

For others the "fourclover marked" donkey is simply a lucky charm.

4. What sort of activities can members expect from your group?
Despite that the group have been around for some years - the activity haven't been much yet. Doing it all on my own as well as having a bit of a art-block have made some item art hard to produce for the Island part of the breed. That is why I have tried to put more effort in getting the HARPG part going since then the player can enter HARPG contests etc. But the first group-held activity was a "donkey round up" where you got to work with wild donkeys directly from the Drabardi Island. Eventually I hope there will be group-held contests in the normal HARPG events such as dressage, jumping etc. A little tidbit on jumping donkeys. A less trained donkey jumps like a normal donkey -- but the more you train a Drabardi -- the more horse-like it will jump even if the "donkey way" still will used if needed -- making it perhaps good (if you can hang on) to master those tight jumps.

5. What would you like to say to people who are considering joining your breed?
Dare to be the donkey among horses I have made a website that show a little more information that the group (I got frustrated that I couldn't get things to show the way I wanted it to): decors.se/drabardi/index.html

Here you can read up on all the possible colors, the Drabardi hue, the magic, the lore of the island donkeys.

There are some bits still in a WIP stage, but that is mostly for the Island donkeys. There are never a must to have the donkey to have magic. It is totally fine to have it as a normal donkey if you rather want to have that.

Want to have your own breed or group featured here? Fill out the the form featured HERE and Note it to us! Featured breeds do not have to be equine-related.

Featured Breedings Love is in the air!

A Foal's Orbit One fuzzy baby's future.

Auryn is my new wildflower! She is currently the biggest eye catch in my stable and she hasn't been here until 2 months ago. Auryn is a starter foal from a new breed called Kuda-Pariso . She it currently taking the equiBREAK course to train her in the basic foal stuff like getting brushed and walking with a halter. But even though she is a fairly new horse she already has achieved something I find big: the first horse with an approved tier 5 rank of her breed. We also found out that she has a big (almost unhealthy) obsession with oranges.

I would really love to show off Auryn in her foal days as she is not already a horse with small achievements, but she also a horse that loves to show off. I hope that once she grows up I can show her in halter or dressage shows.

Featured Herds Two's a couple, three's a crowd!
