Description Since i started here i wanted to do a reference.

I thought i should only do this once (or at least, for a while) so i put about 3 different ideas into this:
1) Sweden and Γ…land go to a gay bar
2) The British-est people ever have been gay: Fry, Crisp and Wilde
3) Sister England - England's Chav/Trendy-girl culture.

To explain, humon does a series called "Scandinavia and the World"; wherein every character is a country personified.
There are lots of in-jokes inside here, such as:
Sweden & Γ…land
Sweden's Impersonation
Make sure you read the comments of humon's work - she is a very clever little lady

Because of Fry, Crisp and Wilde i wanted to put across that England was gay, but in the same way they are- witty, open and playful; i imagine England would never answer a question without a quip, hence you have to be clever to make him admit he's gay. Not that he'd mind.
I worked to make him quip all the time in here, i hope he turned out ok.

If Sister America in SatW was the hippie/celeb-culture of America (who himself is a hippie-hating gun-nut), then while England is the traditional polite Englishman, Sister England is the Chav/Trendie culture parady.

She loves text-messaging (probably to Sister America, i imagine they get on well, but occasionally have fights) she is also into "New Music", revealing outfits (cheap ones from Primark) and going out to get drunk. VERY drunk.

Its sad to say, i based her a little on MY sister, who genuinely says "lol" instead of laughing way too often.

Anyways, this ended up getting so long it took me FOREVER to finish this comic, especially with all my recent business; starting a comedy club, moving house ect.

Hope you enjoyed, and if stuff doesn't make sense - go read SatW on humon's page
"Read from the start - you need to learn the in-references!"
said my Danish friend who introduced me to it - and i agree

...But Oscar Wilde was from Ireland...
Other than that, a great homage! I liked it! ^^

Oscar Wilde was actually an Irish Poet and was born in Dublin

Oh, I know

"its another silly thing about Britain, Oscar Wilde is known as "British" because he was born in the United Kingdom and is rather iconic.
If he was known for being crap (rather than witty) we would probably remember him as "Irish".

Something similar happened a while ago with Andy Murray; was doing well in the tennis, and thus we called him "British" saying he'd "do it for Britain".
But then he lost an important match (Google the details if you want - I don't know sport), and suddenly he was that "Failure from Scotland".

England has a tendency to remember British successes, but forget about how 'United' the kingdom is when Irish, Scottish or Welsh people f**k up. At that point they revert to their own nationality.
That's England for you, even after the empire crumbled, we cling to this elitism."

I know i know!
But Humon herself did the same thing, and later explained that our flag sucks.
Which it does compared to the union flag - its so much cooler!

That is the only reason he is wearing it

creamcheech In reply to HarryBentley [2011-07-23 21:33:54 +0000 UTC]

lolol It is more complex, whereas the England flag is much like a typical medical sign

Exactly.
I like alot of the altered union-flag shirts and fashions that have come out of it too.

Thanks

I made mine slightly before - read humon's comment on that image
"And yes, that is Sister England. Yes, I know you English people envisioned her differently, but this is the kind of women we see in your TV series and movies, so this is what she looks like."

I'd guess that I'm one of many who made a 'Sister England' before she was cannonised.
