Idk from what I've seen the most expressive of spiders are the jumping spiders. Specifically peacock jumping spiders. The way they dance to attract a mate or deter a foe is verrryyy expressive to me. Excessive use of hand gestures could be an easy way to make this species seem more expressive. Those proto arms would be very useful as ways to express emotion. That gives them a use a solo limb and another explanation to why your species hasn't completely lost its extra limbs in favor of having just two, fully functioning arms. Just a thought though.

Hm, why not distance yourself from the common facial expression and look for other was to communicate. Her tail, maybe? She could shake it to make noises, the frequency depending on her mood. Or pheromones? You might go this far and let her change the color of her usual red-brown-ish parts of her body for whatever state she is in. Brighter colors for joy and such, darker ones for sadness. Extreme neon colors for danger or threatening purposes. That's whatI can think of right now.
Nooooo, the arm fluff! I liked the arm fluff xD

I know, I totally loved the arm fluff. Dx But those are some fantastic suggestions! The rattling, the shaking, and the color changing are things I never would've thought of. I'm already getting tons of ideas, heheheheheh. I appreciate the feedback - thank you so much!!

You might add some back fluff, too? Maybe? You know, she can poof up to make herself look bigger, just like a cat. She might use that for communication purposes aswell
You're welcome! <3

Arm fluff is life. Maybe she can make it up by giving them more back fluff.

Oooo nice concept! Love the inspiration from Grievous in the splitting limits, too bad about the floof.... make up for it on the legs and back? XD

very cool, as always. i'll have to remember all these design changes the next time i draw her. the arms are very General Grievous-esque (that's a compliment).
now as far as functional emoting goes... if the faceplate area is going to stay rigid, i'd go for body language stuff. six arms will give ya tons of options for that.

Maybe the plate doesn't have to be rigid. I imagine the skin can scrunch and stretch, especially around the eye and brow area. Pleasant emotions would be hard to get across though. Ya can't smile without lips, after all. P: I agree. Body language might be the way to go.

if you combine brow movements with the body language, as well as some of the other suggestions, tons of possibilities can open up.

That is quite true! Although nothing is quite as punchy as facial expressions, without eyebrows, lips, or even mouth corners, the next best thing would have to be body language. I just need to think of maneuvers that are understandable in still image form. Thank you very much for your help in the matter. <3

My pleasure. It really depends, in my mind, as to your final output for these guys: are they to be used visually (animation, comics) or in writing? If it is the former, then I would go with body language, if the latter, then I would give them some method of emoting. I can SEE these guys moving like jumping spiders - quick, short, jerky movements followed by almost unnaturally still, subtle movements. This would be great to SEE. It would be awfully difficult to try and covey via WRITING, however.
