Isn't his name Crescent Sparkle?

He's based on Nachtlicht, which means "Night-light".
Honestly, that's a pretty badass name for a character in anything.

Yeah. I can imagine him sounding like George Clooney, too. His mane and eyes remind me of Nathan Fillion, though.

I always call him Lightshine, cause he's more like Brian Griffin from family guy, and I love it.

He's based off the G1 pony Nachtlicht (a Germany exclusive)

And now I really hope he never does get a speaking role in the series, unless they actually could somehow manage to land George Clooney for the part...

Poor AJ. At least she wasn't raised by the critters of the ground like Fluttershy.

We so need to see the parents in action.

Celestia should really have them all down to the palace for a reception sometime.

I don't recall that she did... I'm pretty sure that Twilight (Sparkle) just narrated that part of her flashback.

A dapper gentleman, that's for sure. Another great portrait (I really hope you'll continue this series, I'm loving it to bits!), and I agree, an episode focussing on all the Mane Six's families would be great.

Two of the three times we've seen him he's been in formal attire. Of course, those two times were at his son's wedding and his daughter's coronation, so I guess they might be considered exceptional days.

I just realized you have a bunch of these up and I'm feeling only slightly overwhelmed. Kudos to you and your hard work of course! Your talent is always a pleasure to see!
He looks slightly tired here. That's what he gets for having two kids who always get into danger and trouble!

Yes, and there are more to come. They're a fairly minor thing, but fun to do inbetween assignments and the like.

I suppose it helps the frame that this one is in formal attire.

I remember seeing an idea on derpibooru that these two could be voiced by Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie. I do like that thought. :3
And I can imagine the fun part of the parents meeting would be Rarity's parents being all country and Applejack's aunt and uncle being all fancy-like, much to the embarrassment of their younger counterparts.

There's SO MUCH you could do by throwing Mane Six parents (at least, those we know) together, because the culture clashes would be as prominent between them as between the Mane Six themselves:
Twilight's parents - some form of nobility*
Pinkie's parents - "pony Amish"
Rarity's parents - country-style, "stop-embarrassing-me!" parents
Rainbow's dad - "ordinary Joe"? (We don't know anything about him, really...)
* Probably similar to British aristocracy, as that would be the easiest and most familiar example to use. (Princess Diana was an earl's daughter before she married into the royal family, so if we want to use that as an analogy...)

Heh... I didn't even make that connection, but you're right... it's a fun little reversal of expectations. Now I want to see such a thing even more.

Stallions are hard to draw in 3/4 view... Those heads don't really make it easy to see both eyes unless they're looking straight on. Still, I like how he came out... Thanks!
