I love Zecora... such a great character design, and I was glad they finally got to do more with her as a mentor to Twilight in "Magic Duel". I note that she's also grown more magical over the years, as she seemed to just be a brewer of potions in her first appearance, then was performing some impressive illusions during Nightmare Night, and ultimately trained Twilight to beat Trixie based on the idea that it would be "tragic" if some pony could best her knowledge of magic. So what can that zebra really do?Related content

I am a great fan of Zecora, and this is a truly lovely image of her. I wish this and a few others of your portraits were available as prints, as I would happily collect them :3

It's my head canon that Zecora can't really do magic at all. The "magic" that she was referring to was the magic of illusion and tricking the senses. Like a magician in our world, she is a master of making you think that what she is doing is actual magic when it is actually just years of skill and slight-of-hoof. This not only fits with the ending of "Magic Duel", but it also fits well with the fact that she is a zebra. A zebra's most notable feature is their strips and the function of those strips is to create illusions and confuse the senses of natural enemies.
(She is also a powerful alchemist, having extensive knowledge of herbs and animals and the natural world. In a world where some of those things are innately magical in nature, this would make her apparent "magic" all the more impressive. It's just a theory though ^_^)

She is a very intriguing and mysterious character, isn't she? It'd be fun to see how she saves the day against magical forces on her own, rather than helping Twilight do it.

Zecora absolutely does have a great design. It's a shame, as you have sort of touched on before that she does not have more merchandise to her name... high-quality figurines or plush renditions of her would be nice to see.

I think everyone loves Zecora.
She has everything. Knowledge, mystery, charm, understanding, uniqueness. Not to mention Brenda, who is an amazing VA and just breaths life into the character

Zecora is a really misterious character...Despite the fact that she may have appeared more that...I dunno, Big Mac, we always have the feel that there is more hidden about her.
