Chrysalis currently holds the distinction of being the only true villain the series has left... Nightmare Moon was redeemed and restored as Princess Luna, and Discord promised to behave so he could stay chummy with Fluttershy, while Sombra was blown to bits. Anyone else pretty much just qualifies as an antagonist. I wonder if we'll get any lasting villains coming out of season 4.The desire to have antagonists reach redemption seems to be pretty strong with the show, at least among a large chunk of the fandom. I know of plenty of efforts to make Chrysalis herself more sympathetic as well. Of course, I've already gone on record as liking some nasty characters, and I'm quite happy having changelings being monsters... but then, I'm old enough to like my vampires evil, undead bloodsuckers preying on innocents and not misunderstood romantic characters. I figure there's room enough for everyone's favorite take though.

Personally, I don't mind Chrysalis being a heartless, irredeemable tyrant, but I would very much like there to be an acknowledgement that, "Hey, there are good, or at least neutral changelings int he Changeling Kingdom", ya know?

Part of what I liked about dragons is how they aren't always blatantly evil, but definitely subscribe to a different code of ethics than most humans. This always made them intriguing. I kinda feel like this is also true of the MLP Changelings. After all, Chrysi was just trying to find food for her subjects!

Sombra has the potential to come back, and it would be fantastic if they could bring him back and use him to his full potential (maybe not FULL potential because, you know, mindrape isn't usually suitable for small children) but yeah, it's pretty unlikely.

When I first saw her, I thought, "She's a nasty-looking one. And that's good, since it's good to have at least one villain who's ugliness is part of her characteristics as opposed to being sexualezed at every opportunity."

I believe Season 4 will finally refute or support my personal head-canon about there being a big villain in the background that has been orchestrating things since Luna became Nightmare Moon. For a long time I've felt there is an opening to have a super villain of sorts - someone who was the puppet-master to Sombra, someone who manipulated Luna's feelings to corrupt her, and possibly even developed the plan to have Chrysalis infiltrate Canterlot.

I'm loving the depiction of Chrysalis here, came out exceptionally amazing like always. I do agree with your entire description and it seems like lots of fans want Chrysalis to eventually become good or "redeemed" as you have said

I suppose I could see a more sympathetic - or at least understanding - view of Chrysalis. The way I see it, as her and her species feed on emotions to live, she's like the raptors from Jurassic Park. You can hate them/think they're evil, but in the end they're just meat eaters being meat eaters.Β
Also, this picture is phenomenal, love the scratched out Princess symbols!

I suspect we will someday, although if she had been planned for Season 4 I think the comics might not have been able to use her.Β Β We'll have to wait and see.

I always liked Chrysalis, my favourite amongst the villains, heck, probably my favourite character beyond the Mane Six and the CMC.
Impressive work you did on her here, she looks terrific, baleful, malicious and pernicious.
I really like the transparent effect you did with her mane as well, adds a suitable insectile and sinister feel.Β
Also a great addition that you changed the colour for the background and the frame and added those three slashes over the sun and moon icons.Β
I am one of those who never really cared about redeeming otherwise evil characters, sure some characters can be turned to harmony where appropriate, but the truly evil and insidious characters should stay that way for me. I am not that opposed to Discord being reformed as he never really seemed evil in the same way, but I am happy that Chrysalis has avoid that (and death for that matter).Β

Heh, that is true enough, wonder where the marks come from, seeing as ponies, changelings included, does not have claws. Then again changeling can probably do a little shape-shifting to change that... well that and Chrysalis have magic

Chrysalis is a very interesting character, from my point of view. She can be seen as a really bad character (Like Sombra) or she was impelled by the situation (Like Nightmare), in this case, hunger.
In any case, she looks bloody awesome
