Hey there,
I'm afraid there is no download.
I'm currently involved in a project and releasing the models to the public right now would probably damage it.
Sorry!

What project is that?
I'd love to see these models out someday, the ones currently being used all over the place for SFM/Garry's Mod look frightening and bug-eyed.

Ah, well, that's alright. I have my own Zbrush model. I just don't want to put the hours in to make the hair, color and rig it. You know how it is...

Congratulations! You've made a 3D model cute enough to hug! Seriously, that is a meltingly sweet smile you gave her.

This looks great! Did you rig, bind, and paint weights too, or did you model only this pose?

AffinityShy In reply to Hashbro [2013-04-24 05:26:08 +0000 UTC]
My skill with rigging is somewhere between novice and intermediate; I can say from personal experience that rigging a character is a tedious task, but it's definitely worth the effort in the end. Since these are for 3D prints, I can understand why a basic rig at most would be used. It sounds like you made a type of proxy mesh base for the pony's body, and recycled parts for other similar models. Smart move! Why remodel from scratch when you can save time, money, and effort by recycling what you've already done?
When you're more comfortable with character rigging, I bet you could make a fully rigged and weighted pony body for each type; filly, colt, mare, and stallion versions of earth, unicorn, pegasus, and alicorn (royal & young) ponies. Then, for coloring it's just a simple exchange of shaders.
Easy-peasy puddin' in the freezy.

Do you know when that will be? I just put Pon3 and Derpy on the shelf today, they are missing their friend Twilight... (and Lyra... just sayin)
Also, thanks for making these. The models are perfect from every angle and the print quality is very good, I am very happy that I bought them.

Ok, that is the best looking 3D representation of the Ponies I've seen so far. Great job making them look like clay instead of polygons. Curious though, what's the poly count on them?

Hashbro In reply to GriffinPyros [2013-04-23 14:15:16 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
I use a Meshsmooth modifier which subdivides the polygons by four with every instance to get a nice smooth high poly mesh.
The lowpoly control mesh is somewhere between 6500 and 8000 polygons the finished highpoly model which is used for the 3d print is around 350000 polygons.

You may have gotten this question before, but are you ever going to release these files? I work a ton in Source Film Maker, but I feel that the current models available are mediocre at best. These ones look really nice and the textures look like they might fit decently with the Source Engine's lighting. I could rig it myself, my problem is I just don't have the artistic skills to actually make a model. I'm all technical and such. I understand not wanting to release the files, seeing as someone could just make their own figurines with a personal 3D printer or otherwise, but maybe after you've had your fill of what you need that you could maybe release it?

I would love it if these were the next version pony models for SFM. Don't get me wrong. I like the models I have, and alot can be don't with them, but these? the proportions alone make these more appealing.

I agree. I am hoping OP could release the models. But of course, that is up to OP.
In fact, this is, by far surpasses the real Hasbro's modelling team? I mean, look at the game for Android and iPhone.
OP, your model is still the best. Ever.

Yes indeed. And that's probably why Hasbro use their copyright weapons so much: They just are aware that there are better magicians than them, and copyright law is their only weapon against them (which I consider unfair competition, since if someone can do something as good as the original author, or even better, he/she should be able to do it).

I'm absolutely buying one of these once you have her finished.
I swore never to buy pony merch, but this is just too good.
How long do you expect it will take until she's for sale?
Also, do you have experience with Europe-based buyers and if theirs arrived fine? I'm in Czech Rep.
Thanks.

Po Evrope v klidu, tady to ma na starost pobocka v Nizozemi a rekl bych ze se k tomu chovaji i lip nez ti v Americe. Ja sam uz mam koupene obe predchozi figurky a dorazily bez uhony. Vetsinou tak 5-6 dni cesta.

It's so awesome, I only have one singular complaint with it: I feel like the mane is too flat. I mean, I know in the show that her mane ends in a sharp line like that but since each color is a distinctive block it looks less like hair and more like clay, if that makes sense. Other than that one complaint it's awesome.
