anotomically speaking, the spine can twist like that. it depends on the flexibility... It doesn't help that her kimono sleeve is in the way though otherwise you could see it properly

very nice you are improving with your basic concept and line work, also the face it's self has improved ^=^ very nice so far, for the background, she could be on top of a building looking out to the rest of the forest/city

Incomplete, but oh so very sexy.

As for a background... let's try a challenge, do a classic town with a palace, high angle, lots of silhouette work and heavy shading, patches of light for windows and a cloudy, moonlit sky far back in the distance (horizon intersects her shoulder line so that her upper sword stands out even more). You can do eet!!

I might not have the ability to draw it myself, but I do have some damn good scene-setting ability, it's the graphic designer side of me.
