Hi

I'm looking at making this dress for my ball this year.

Any tips and did you find a pattern that was some what similar to the dress?

It's probably way late to answer the question about the Hermione dress, but here goes. I didn't find a pattern. The person that commissioned it brought me a LOT of pictueres of the dress and the girl wearing it, and I kind of plotted and fiddled until I figured out how to make it for her.

The closest I could figure for a pattern would be a princess line, and then use the "jellyfish" to define it. But even that was modified because the original is more of a bodice with skirt that follows a princess line.

I know that this was not particularly helpful. My apologies for this.

Lovely shot! I can't even begin to imagine how much work must have gone into all the little silk ruffles...

Thank you! The chiffon ruffles actually were not as hard as I had thought they would be once I FINALLY figured out what I wanted to do with them. It just took a LOT of sewing and serging without a serger. But I love how it's all wibbly and stuff.

It's definitely very effective. Looks so delicate!
