By the time Flurry Heart looked over to check on Sunset Shimmer, she barely had enough time to process what was happening much less act. The Alicorn Amulet was glowing with a red hue as bright as Starlight's horn, the dark magic within getting so overwhelming that before anyone new it a burst of red magic shot towards Sunset Shimmer. She tried to block, she really did, but the shield shattered and all that red magic went straight into her horn, and then...

It burst.

A destructive beam of pure magic shot through Sunset's broken horn and into the skies. It was then something stirred in Starlight... A pain in her chest, a tinge of regret and fear for what she'd done. She still focused on keeping herself afloat in the air, but even she was realizing the extent of the Alicorn Amulet's power was far greater than whatever Trixie pulled off with it. As Flurry Heart, Luster Dawn and Twilight try to rush to Sunset's side, Starlight ran, and she didn't dare look back for a second.

as i'm posting this i realize i forgot the magic around starlight that keeps her floating but y'know, it's not anything major so we can ignore that. Anyway, it sure would suck if someone who's whole life has revolved around magic suddenly loses their horn huh? At least she's not the only one.
