the flipping is a trick i learned to see the art with "fresh eyes" every mistake I make explodes out of the image so I can fix it

Ah; yes; I see ^^ Forcing the eyes to adapt to a different view of the image because the brain likes to 'see' conformity on an image that it's seen many times.
