finally was able to get some fun pics of a custom art doll for Fumi-LEX !!here are some other shots that i didn't include:Β sta.sh/21holisyfp8l?edit=1
this art doll was so fun to make!! I think the ears and antennae were my favorite challenge!!
the art doll is about 3 feet long and 1-1.5 feet tall. its pretty light weight, maybe 1.5-2 lbs?? it can stand on its own and is fully posable c:
also!! if anyone is interested in a commissions, a doll like this is a base price of 500$, though sometimes i do haggle or take the price down if other things are included in payment (such as designs i want or possibly art)
commissions are open by the way!! I have room to take on one more art doll at this time (I'm currently working on 2 others, so 3 is my max to work on at once)

I am a hobbyist plush maker, who is currently trying to taking up art-doll making. I was wondering what this particular doll's eyes were made of - where did you obtain them? Or did you make them yourself? If so, how? Also!! Where do you order most of your materials from? Do you have any tips for beginners when it comes to painting fabric with colic markers? ;; 0 ;;

oh cool! The eyes are half spheres of glass that I hand paint myself c: and I get most of my materials from Michaels, joanns fabrics, and hobby lobby!! And as for painting fabric with copic markers, be sure to work quickly, cover the area twice until it's saturated and then quickly blot the area with a tissue or paper towel to wick away excess ink so the fabric stays soft and fluffy! Also by twice the amount of markers you think you will need, fabric coloring by hand uses A LOT of ink!!

Oh! And just so you know, you don't need to buy new markers after they run out!! Replacement nibs/ink cartridges are actually a lot cheaper in whole, and the empty pens are very good quality. I read that they are so durable, some artists use the same pen for over twenty years by just refilling it. 'o'

I ended up switching to felted faces because the clay faces were so heavy and weighed the doll down a lot, they also had the tendency to chip or details would snap off easily even when supported by wire.
