That's pretty cool, I wish more people would air soft here.

This is what paintballers see before the geardos whip out a gay man from one of their CRYE pouches.

Tactical rape ensues.

madness

that's fucking madness.

I should post up my gear with the surefire helmetlight...

I wish I could trade my TM M4-S with yours. way too fucking front-heavy with the M900 and the PEQ on, and it makes for horrible color coordination.

My M4 is gone now, anyway. I've upgraded to a SCAR-L CQC. Pics in about a week when I get the rail covers on and consider it done.

Well, done except for a PEQ-15, but I'm waiting on the VFC replica first.

I really don't want to run much on this. The damn thing is so slick - so pointable - I love it as is.

War-Shark [2008-07-30 11:15:42 +0000 UTC]

so lemme get this streight. All of the gear is the real deal except the weapons?

They don't let ya have any real guns over there do they?

I highly suggest joining the infantry and upgrade you're selves to the real thing

Just a warning though... after firing a real machine gun and throwing a few grenades you wont want to play airsoft again. I had some friends invite me to play airsoft ONCE.... I broke my gun the moment I picked it up LOL.

How realistic do they make those airsoft gun's anyways? Like do they get real enough to the point where you could reasonably pactice you're TOETs/IAs and stoppages?

I've had the chance to fire a bunch of real stuff - an MP5, Glock 19 and M249 at a range in America, and an L85A2 and L98 (ugh) when I was in the cadet force (lol). Airsoft can't compare. but it's the closest you can get without paying big bucks and going through an assload of trouble for licenses.

The guns are pretty damn realistic externally, but totally different inside. The selector/safety will work in about the same way, as will the trigger, but that's usually about it. There are some new ones (well, not that new, but certainly expensive) which lock back when the mag is empty with working bolt catches and stuff, but the feel still isn't there, and stoppage drills are completely, well, non-existant.

There's a new series of gas guns coming out from one company now which actually has recoil. Not 5.56 level, but probably comparable with .22. And they are internally very similar to a real one, with gas fed from the magazine rather than relying on explosive behind the round. If I was still into the sport as much as I was a couple of years ago, I'd buy one. Maybe I should anyway and try to reinvigorate it for me...

Airsoft not holding its own anymore ?

Not like it used to. I find AEGs deathly boring, to be honest. I'm actually selling some of my stuff for money I can use for things more important to me. Still keeping my core kit, though.

Too bad man. I guess all things pass from good to evil in time.

I recently found custom gun building to be an excessively pleasing activity.

All good fun but there is a significant difference between a familiarization shoot and getting trained on the weapon. I really enjoy getting immersed in the function and handeling of the weapon... the whole training process towards being an efficient operator with every weapon.

So you CAN get a gun in the UK then? But it must be a real tough grind eh?

Our gun laws here are kind of stupid. The RCMP just goes about banning anything that looks too scarry basically but whatever isnt banned is REALLY easy to get a hold of. The laws are dumb in that all AR15 type weapons are 'restricted' (just takes more papper work, more security to transport and you can only take them to a federally registered range to shoot them) yet my Sig 550 is as legal as Farmer Browns shot gun (I can go fuck off into the bushes somewhere and nuke small animals if I like) BUT the Sig 550 Sniper is prohibited (you'll never touch one) YET AGAIN the Steyer .50 Cal sniper rifle is as legal as my 550 and the topping to this shit cake is that the M203 40mm grenade launcher is a legal as a toaster here (LITERALLY. They are just hard to come by).

Sounds like I'll be moving to Canada then...

I'd sort of assumed your gun laws were pretty strict. I guess I was wrong (mostly).

You can own certain guns here - shotguns and straight-pull rifles, mostly. But the hoops you have to jump through to own them are, I believe, pretty absurd. It's not worth the hassle, especially since there's always a chance of a knee-jerk piece of legislation being passes and the government just saying "Well, we'll have these off you, thanks."
