Description So many MGS fans across the world were left baffled by the picture showing Raiden on Crying Wolf from Konami's keynote speech.

[link]

So inspired by that cool image I decided to create something similar using my Wacom Graphics Tablet.

P.S My theory is that, as a shocking surprise, Metal Gear Solid Rising will take place before, DURING AND AFTER the events of MGS4... Hence explaining how Raiden and Crying Wolf cross paths.. You heard it here first... either that or Hideo Kojima thought the two together just looked awesome as a picture...

Mine too ! Raiden has really improved from the whiny inexperienced guy he was in MGS2.

And we found out that, actually, it is not Crying Wolf. ;D
We call it "Canine Thousand".

Hax09 In reply to gracefuldemon [2012-09-04 12:42:57 +0000 UTC]

Is that really the name given to it? (or are you messing around and I'm just too stupid to realise )

To be honest I haven't checked any updates for Rising in a long time now. I only just got back from Spain on holiday and found out that there's going to be a new installment in the MGS franchise (Ground Zeroes) It makes me wonder how long other fans knew about this before I found out. I really need to get back on track with Metal Gear updates

Oh my!
Everyone has known about the new instalment for the Solid series for a while now... You really need to update. And there is a bunch of stuff from the last E3 show about Rising. New awesome trailer, new awesome (yet too short) gameplay footage, etc.
Well, its name is too complicated (a bunch of numbers and so), by the end of the new trailer they just call it Canine Thousand.

I feel ashamed
I know about the E3 updates for Rising. I just didn't have time to check them out. But Ground Zeroes totally flew by me. I must find out everything I can about it !!!

gracefuldemon In reply to Hax09 [2012-09-06 07:23:19 +0000 UTC]

Why feel ashamed? Just because you couldn't check it, it doesn't mean you're not interested in it.
I honestly am not interested in another game with Big Boss.
Give me Revengeance! (I have even gotten used to the bloody name )

*reads the comments above hers* AND WHAT IS THIS ABOUT NOT LIKING MGS2 RAIDEN? *shakes you violently*
He is the same!

HAHA!
Yeah I was okay with MGS2 Raiden before but I recently replayed MGS2 on HD Collection and realised just how whiny and inexperienced he was. I guess standing next to someone like Snake throughout the game doesn't exactly help. But my feelings changed in MGS4 completely. I thought he was one of the best characters on there (part of the reason I painted him of course)

I'm quite the opposite to be honest. I want more games with Big Boss in them. Ever since Snake Eater I have been really interested in learning more about Big Boss. I wish they remake Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 for PS3. I'm interested to see how the likes of Frank Jaeger and young Solid Snake would look in clean detailed PS3 graphics

P.S Revengeance isn't the best name to be honest. What was wrong with Rising?

gracefuldemon In reply to Hax09 [2012-09-07 04:07:06 +0000 UTC]

I fell in love with Raiden in MGS2 (my first MGS experience) and honestly, if he hadn't been so inexperienced I would not have bonded with his character. Whatever most people hate about him, I love.

Meh... I don't really want remakes of the old Metal Gear games... I am looking ahead and readying myself to accept what they plan on giving us in the near future.

Kojima is planing to give Raiden his own series; Rising fit him better than Solid. Revengeance is but a subtitle; it may not be the best name but, in truth, a name matters little. If the result is good people will put the awkward word aside and enjoy the game itself.

Hax09 In reply to gracefuldemon [2012-09-11 06:07:34 +0000 UTC]

Good point. Ask me before 1998 what I thought of characters with names like Snake, Liquid, Ocelot and Psycho Mantis and I would have said those names were absurd. But that's the magic of Metal Gear. Over the years they've come up with strange names and characters but that just goes to show how much we care about the idea, not the name it goes by.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gracefuldemon In reply to Hax09 [2012-09-11 07:54:52 +0000 UTC]

Indeed.
Exactly! I assure you, Revengeance is going to make sense once we experience the story.
What does "Ground Zeroes" stand for, anyway?
The secret is giving meaning to things that don't seem that exciting. ;D
I'm glad you understand my point.

Hax09 In reply to gracefuldemon [2012-09-17 20:12:07 +0000 UTC]

Ground Zero is usually the site where a detonation has took place. I can't work out what it could refer to in this context but I guess we'll find out soon enough. Maybe everyone except me knows this too

The gameplay is only less than half the reason I love Metal Gear. The epic storyline behind it is what keeps me going! I don't care if I only get 40% play time. As long as there's an amazing story behind it. Most people complained about the long cutscenes in MGS2. Not me... I wanted more

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gracefuldemon In reply to Hax09 [2012-09-18 20:33:30 +0000 UTC]

So... since it is named "Ground Zeroes" it meant the game will be exploding all over. Hmm. I couldn't resist. Don't worry, I don't think the secret is out yet.

Really? That is awesome! I am exactly the same. I love the long cinematics; of course I enjoy playing just as much but I believe the long cinematics are a great reward after a boss fight, a particular hard obstacle, and so on; it is also a good way to involve the gamer in the story. Personally, I play a game for the story; if I don't like the story I give up on the game no matter how amazing the gameplay is.

Hax09 In reply to gracefuldemon [2012-09-19 20:48:16 +0000 UTC]

Same here. It is for that reason that I enjoy games like Assassin's Creed, Heavy Rain and Uncharted more than I'd enjoy other games. The story is what intrigues me the most. It's as close as you can get to a movie. Except better because you control it. It's also the reason that Hollywood is yet to make a film that truly captures the sensation you get when playing a game. It just can't be replicated in video format. You hear Metal Gear is being made into a film? I was always against this idea unless it's in 3D like the cutscenes from MGS4 and recently Ground Zeroes. Only then can they guarantee success. Also the voice actors get the recognition they truly deserve.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

gracefuldemon In reply to Hax09 [2012-09-19 22:25:15 +0000 UTC]

I have heard about the film, yes. I don't think I am going to watch it, though. I rather enjoy the video game only because I am doubting the film version's quality. It is true that we never know but...
Talking about great stories; have you ever played Primal for the PS2? It is one of the best stories in a video game (in my opinion); it truly captivates you, and before you realise it you are become connected to the story that you can't stop playing just to watch the rest.

Hax09 In reply to gracefuldemon [2012-09-21 05:54:03 +0000 UTC]

I've heard of Primal. Never played the game though. But I did do a search for it and the story seems interesting. I may give it a go in the near future. It's available to download on PSN network so great! I love a good story and I hope I'll be mesmerized by this one!

No, it isn't.
It should be. First, the game is European and second, it's been on the US Store since February.
I wonder what's taking them so long to update.

It would be really cool if there is one part in the game you face off with the others and Raiden and Wolf facing them off together, Raiden riding her as he cut through the wave of enemies

Raiden and Crying Wolf teaming up would be amazing. I doubt anyone could beat that partnership in combat. Unfortunately my fantasies rarely come true so I'm guessing its basic good guy fights bad guy (girl?)

MGSR is already confirmed to take place between MGS2 and MGS4, roughly in the timeframe when he was on his missions to infiltrate Area 51 to recover Sunny and Big Boss.

What's interesting to note, and what nobody seems to have made the connection about, is that on a map in MGS4, the Werewolf PMC was shown to be stationed in Nevada. That's where Area 51 is.

Since many of the enemies in Rising will be cyborgs, and we've already seen Crying Wolf in that teaser, it only makes sense that you'll be crossing paths with Werewolf troops a lot, since they're in charge of most of the technology in MGS4.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Hax09 In reply to Amaranth-Sparrow [2011-02-12 11:42:19 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I didn't realise that. And it makes sense because Raiden went to Area 51 to rescue Sunny. That's where he must have encountered Crying Wolf. Remembering that the patriots, who own the base, must have created these B&B Corps (and to mirror reality, Area 51 is supposed to be a government base involved with production of top secret high tech engineering)

That's a pretty cool connection Metal Gear made... Using Area 51's reputation of secrecy for their own fictional secret society....

Thanks for making that connection Amaranth-Sparrow.... Now I'm all excited about missions in Nevada ! I-WANT-THIS-GAME !
