Elaine Coll was originally just one of Fisk's goons. She wasn't even her favorite one(that would be Vanessa's personal bodyguard/darling husband, Wilson Fisk) but she was one of the most brutal and efficient. That's why Vanessa tasked her with killing spider-woman.

However, dealing with superhumans wasn't easy and Elaine started to become desperate and even fearing what will happen to her if she keeps failing. So desperate in fact that she took the serum sample from when she raided the Connors' home and brought it to a mad scientist called "the jackal" and had him mix the serum with scorpion(a natural predator to spiders) DNA and inject her with it.

Despite her new mutated form, she lost to spider-woman and was sent to jail and fired by the queenpin. Now she only works for herself and wants revenge on spider-woman and Fisk industries.

Elaine was always just...boring to me. If I was going to make her scorpion in this universe, I wanted to change her up a lot. Especially her design since her 616 one just looks like she's wearing a sexy halloween version of Mac's suit.
