Knox wished that he'd never accompanied the guards to find Ffael. He wished that he'd just allow them to go alone to track the missing colt down, but what kind of father would do that? Not that he'd ever been much of a father to Ffael anyways. The golden buck had been pale. He'd been small. He'd been a mark on Knox’s reputation. The striped stag had never shunned his son, but he had never invited him in welcomingly. He has never looked at him with the same adoration in his eyes as he had for Orrick…
And now he hated himself for it.

The first snows had begun to fall as he and the patrol continued searching for the missing colt. Ffael had been gone for days now, without a trace. The journey of his father and the Guard led them towards the cliffs. There was no reason for Ffael to be here, but why would he be? They were running out of places to look. As it turned out, this was would be their last stop.
