as I promised a long time age.
i did it with freehand, but it would be same process in any vector program.

older post with the same drawing: [link]

also, this is my first tutorial, so...
comments are more then welcome.

Then why claim it as your own...?
On the first page of comment u claim that u have been sketching graff for 12 years, if your that good and experienced why still bite someone else's work?

DON'T BITE

Is photoshop a semi-vector program. Like, does it make TRUE vector art?

Nope.
Though, you can draw vectors in it. But they are converted to pixels.

even if you save them as as .eps and then open is something else?

Yep, I saw it.
Never tried it.
And why should I when vector possibilities in photoshop are not as good as illustrator's?

I hate when they make some object, program or something that can do everything. On my cellular I have photo camera. Did you ever try to take a picture with it? It's bull's droppings. Camera should be camera and cellular phone should be phone. In my opinion.

But, I was wrong before.

I dont know, I mean, Im not trying to preach or anything. But Im just kind of confused about the whole thing.....

Im a T-shirt art designer and I would like to make things easier by using vectors, but apparently I cant do that in photoshop so I have to find something else to do it on, with no money.....

Well, thank you for your help, maybe we both obtained something from this

I like the sound of your language, too.

Oh you should....we are very few about 300.000 and when you come you might see Bjork walking around like a "normal" person.....we are so down to earth here about known people, they come here to be them selfs and nobody bothers them!! I have seen her few times most of the time at work. And yes she is amazing!!

This is amazing man, thanks for linking me, just a question about you highlights and extras....

for your highlights, did you add those in your self, like vector those on... Also, what do you mean by close everything separately, i can get my lineart the way you have it, but as for the way you did it. Did you vector fill, or did you paint fill those closed areas... B/c What i do is trace my sketches in illustrator, with a stroke, no fill. And then i just copy lineArt or save then import in photoshop. Its either a lineArt, or whitefill... Do i just fill in as the same whith gradients. Im still figuring how to fill in with gradient... If you could let me know, i dont want to leave to long a comment... I dont know, im just figuring out new techniques, and the highlight issues and gradient fill seems to be a stumble...

Again great tut bro, not too many artists do this for others... Be back to check the gallery soon, much props... KIT, pz.

hbielen In reply to SikWidInk [2007-06-24 14:50:03 +0000 UTC]

First, I'd like to apologize for of my bad english.

'bout highlights and shadows...
Everything is drawn by hand (actually a vector tool) in vector program. It's no automated effect or anything. (I used Freehand, but you can use any vector program you like). Every highlight and shadow is closed object with or without transparency (depends of it's position and need of brightness or contrast).

By close everything separately, I mean that every polygon you see have to be separate object. Only that way you can get your fills right.
All fills are done in vector program. Illustrator have great gradient tool with lot of options. Use it a lot but be careful not to overdo. If you look closely in nature clean colors are very rare, so use of gradients is much better to achieve 3d like illusion that should look like real stuff. Only problem is that this is not 3d, of course, and even less real stuff.
hehe

I don't know if I answered your question. If not, feel free to ask more.
Publish your work.
I'm curious to see did my tutorial work.

SikWidInk In reply to hbielen [2007-06-25 15:21:11 +0000 UTC]

lol, no apologizing... Some people who speak english are worse off... You translated very well, lol...

k: as for highlights & extras, I get what youre saying now, actually i did my first completed vector in illustrator, I'll link @ the end... Although, I still dont know how toproperly use the gradients and such in Illustrator, im going to work on it.. But yes, i have tried and worked on closing paths and such to get a better feel of working with full paths.

Overall, yes you have answered my questions about highlights and such, you have been more than helpful, and once im prepared, I'll create a better image from your tut and post, & definitely credit your tutorial for help...

Quoted: Publish 'your' work... Do you mean 'ost it' lol..
Sector-UPDATE
Heres a 1st go... but as i mentioned I will post better image, once i get it down and the technique seems more realistic than a painted feel... again thanks, talk soon...

nice but i dont like the fact that you do those interesting things with the pc. thats kinda lame. and that hole style, even the bg is copied by daim...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

hbielen In reply to cars-ten [2007-06-11 12:12:40 +0000 UTC]

Well, you can think what ever you want. It's free world. But this is not Daim's copy. Believe me that I do that style and it's variations for years (10-15). It evolved from something very confused and crowdy. I don't hide the fact that Daim wasn't a big influnce somewhere on the road, but I don't see that as a bad thing.
I do things on a computer because I don't want to get my hands dirty anymore. And they were in the past. Believe me.

dont get me wrong im not desrespectin its just obvious that the final picture is copied from daims wallpaper. you even used the same colours

hbielen In reply to cars-ten [2007-06-11 21:08:59 +0000 UTC]

As I said before, Daim was a big influence on my work (as to many others), but these colors were coincidental.
You're ofcourse welcomed to believe what you want.
