I learned how to draw Vinyl Scratch, and knew the fact that she's had magenta eyes instead of red, thanks to Hasbro

Bah... ''magenta'' is just a variant of red, anyway. Still... red offers a better contrast with her electric blue mane.

It's not only about the contrast of the eyes/mane, it's also about rarety of it... the ''uniqueness'', special and dynamic, just like herself.
Red appears, in a way, as something 'cool and different', if you prefer to see it that way.
That's at least part of what many people ''saw'' (or felt) from that color, on Vinyl.
