Great work!
I wonder how many layers of paint you normally use? For example that red background; Is it painted wet-on-wet, or do you let it dry before putting next color on it? It looks really good.

Trial and Error will help you improve.
Don't be intimidated by the paint.
Value is more important than colour (IMHO).
Look at your reference more than your canvas.
Use the largest brush possible.
Hope this helps.

lovely portrait, the red subdues the girl and makes for an interesting contrast that I get in to.

I went to Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. It was an illustration program, not a fine art program. However, a few of us decided to pursue a painting rather than illustrating careeer before graduation.

The colors are so great. It's a lot like those medieval artists who made the women have skin as white as milk contrasted on a red background. Love it!
