Description [Previous Page] Page 5 of 32 [Next Page]

The big cat page! There were quite a few of the cat family in the museum. The Tiger they had was faded due to the age of the specimen and they explained that it's not been replaced due to conservation of the species. Good on you old chaps!

Anyway, while trying out the different techniques I came accross one that I really liked. It was fairly simple and the outcome was good (IMHO). It's shown on the two tigers and snow leopard's head. I drew out the lines in pen and then added in the colours/shading with watercolours. I use it a few more times throughout the pages so keep an eye out for the pics that don't fail as hard as the others.

This series of sketchbook pages were created for a college project where I chose to design a poster for London's Natural History Museum. I decided to draw out some of my favourite exhibits from each of the museum's zones as research, but I think I got a little carried away!

The images in these pages are not meant to be realistic. It was an excercise in trying out different styles, anatomy and media (just had to say that incase you thought I failed at realism. Well, I kinda do... but that's not the point!).

That is amazing. I always love about big cats, they all look so graceful from their characteristic features, especially my favorite feline Panthera tigris, the Tiger. Nice work. b(^-^)d

Thank a lot! And yes, drawing the tiger and lion, using the pen for the detail, it was really fun and enjoyable!

Hopefully she thinks she's a female lion, since the blokes do hardly anything. I bet she bosses you around

Cheers again Chris! I really appreciate all the comments you're making.

Yay, big cats! I love the shape of the cheetah's head up top, and the tiger tail on the bottom makes the whole page go "WHOOM! IN YOUR FACE!" but in a really good way. The snow leopard's face and the detailing on tiger are gorgeous... That must have taken you a while, but it's completely worth it. The lion up top is pretty too.

I really enjoyed drawing the tiger and leopard and I don't really keep track of time when I'm having fun with it.
