Personality
(as written on the Import Sheet)

Fade was a promising youngster that fell on rough times. When first presented to the Association for his grading as a young horse he had incredible potential as a ridden horse, but the circumstances that have led him to his current condition have meant that he now has many problem that future owners will need to work with before he can move forward with his life and career.

After being sold by his breeder, Fade was unfortunately sold multiple times and passed from person to person. One keen eyed individual spotted the underweight and sick stallion at an auction and worked with the Vet to recover his microchip information that listed the breeder and the Association. Both were contacted and he was purchased by us to recover from a nasty fungal infection and regain weight before he could find his forever home.

He is shy around people and can be hard to deal with as he has little trust in humans after what he has been through. No one has tried to ride him since his recovery, however after evaluation on his ground work we do not believe that will be a simple thing to do as he is very sensitive about anything touching his back. This is due to the pain from his infected wounds that were so long untreated, as well as the new skin and scarring that now cover so much of him. We believe it will take a long time and a lot of desensitization before he is ready to accept any form of saddle let alone a rider.

He is quite headstrong and prone to refusing to cooperate when he has had enough of things. Mostly this involves when he has had enough of people treating him, and he has a particular dislike of vets that come and check up on him. He seems to be incredibly sensitive to the people around him and has very good observational skills. This seems to have been a survival mechanism that started in fear, but we hope will transition to curiosity now that he is out of pain.

Fade will need an understanding and patient person who is able to dedicate a lot of time and energy into the young stallions continued rehabilitation. Interested parties will need to carefully consider if they are able to take on such a large project.
