Background:
We have the year 173 after the chrystalline meteor hit the planet, which caused the polar caps to melt and set all the continents underwater.
Humanity would've been sentenced to death, if it wasn't for Professor Allard and his research. Allard discovered and later genetically manipulated a certain type of algae that could be used to provide huge underwater arcologies with oxygen.

When the news of Allard's results reached the Ventian Alliance, a maritime power of the north-eastern sea, they encouraged and greatly funded his research. The Alliance deemed the possibilities of hidden underwater naval bases a major strategic anvantage against their greatest military danger, the Aurelian Empire.
A long and devastating war was expected on both sides, but the catastrophe that really took place was far more horrible than everyone imagined. Whilst the Aurelian Empire seemed to have been entirely wiped out, only few Ventian citizens survived the flood in the already existing arcologies. Among them the were the four royal families, the elite of the Alliance and, of course, professor Allard himself. Already aged 75 and weakend by the distress of surviving the apocalypse he struggled with death for three more years to pass on his legacy.

Only later historians who couldn't remember the blue skies, the grass, trees and starlit nights of the old world so well anymore managed to transfigure the events of the year 1 to a divine punishment of the Aurelian army and a glorious Exodus into a new Garden Eden: Vineta, the underwater Empire.

And to this generation Professor Allard was nothing less than a prophet.
