... AKA "My Little Snowflake".

So this is the same horse as in a sketch I did in 2006, "Furry Beauty" [link] which is in my Scraps. I saw it only fair that since I've done a kazillion pieces of the horse I sketched together with this one (the horse in f.ex. "Peachy Star"), I should do one of this mare too.

I think of this horse every time I see a green halter. It's almost a Pavlovian reaction. That's why I put that in.
I really loved the gentleness of this horse — her temperament was amazing. If you've ever heard the saying "a perfect Arabian is calm when at stop and fire when moving" it's this horse down to a t. And the gaits — ay yay yay! When she put a hoof down, she would have a slight pause before putting her weight on it which made her look like she was always floating.

I'm guessing 1½ hours (again, drying times!).
A6 watercolour postcard, watercolours and a touch of watercolour pencils and pastel pencils (background mainly). Pencil for sketching.

I think I worked this one to death. But as a portrait, I think it was fairly successful.

Scan emphasized the background blue — it's not that deep or garish. It's just regular blue, softly applied. (Also, the overall tone of this is a touch too red: this is actually a white postcard.)

(And if you ask why she looks like a Moomintroll, it's because she was having the largest pregnancy belly ever known to man.)
