Okay this took way too long to finish... I started this sketch like last month and I have been steadily working on this here and there. Honestly I do not know what the Dutch country side looks like, so I based it off the only country side I know, which is my own. So if it looks funky oh well. Though I gotta say this is the first time I did both a detailed drawing and background...Also Netherlands and I are no longer friends! His face gave me a nightmare worth of work.. v_v I think I need to take a break from drawing both Netherlands and Denmark because doing them back to back should be a sin...

Anyways, this is lovely! What tools did you use? I'm trying to get that soft painting like effects myself but being a CG n00b I can't seem to figure it out. XD;

If you are using paint tool sai I used the pen tool put the main color down and then the mass majority of the blending was with water 10 and sometimes water color. Though there are a few times I did use the airbrush tool but it was blended into with water 10. Hope that helps!
Btw water 10 takes a lot of getting used to because it does not blend smoothly thats why you see some blotch patching going on xD but I love the partial roughness it gives my pics.
I plan on tapping in on my sketch reserves while I'm in school. Hopefully I wont run out!

(and oh... here in the netherlands we don't have that much space c: ... you could put a farm or something in there or some trees or a village (or trees!) but it looks rly cool as it is so it's not necicarly ^^ )

well that's acutally not that much of an issure ^^ geographicly the netherlands and denmark do look alike, we're both lands made out of sediment from other countries, have lots of water and not much hills or high grounds XD the only difference is the shape and the fact that denmark has more islands and we have the weddelzee (a sea that's 4 times a day not a sea but shallow water) and here are some pics of what the netherlands's country side looks like: [link]
