Dark amber eye went from one section to the other, the ruler of the realm was uneasy, some time ago he sent forth his queen and her lady on a hunt, it was a simple task. He had busied himself with patrolling the newest expansion of their territory with reckless abandon and expected his females to be back before he returned. Pacing a habit of his, had started to leave little ruts in the section of the area they had created to be used as a den. Upon waiting for their return he had made a deep rut in the ground, an sense of uneasy feeling crept up his bones.

Hyena had been scented on the lower parts of the grassland, having desired to seek out better shelter for his pride he was forced to wait out the hyena clan since Lady Jua had announced she was heavy with cubs and he being a new King did not want to risk a stillbirth of his cubs even if they were to be bastards and no claim to his title, more the merrier unless they were male, then he'd force him away, he didn't want rivals within his own Pride.

Growing even more irritated with their lateness he took in a deep breathe and let it out in a mighty roar, scattering the birds that flew ahead. Off in the distance, two bodies moved one after the other, the first's tail rising up in greeting before returning to brush along the ground.

In mighty strides the large male was soon to meet up with his females, the Queen presenting her neck to him as a sign of submission while her companion the Lady Jua, crouched low and looked away. The King had nothing to do with Lady Jua despite the offspring in her belly and with a nod of his head he dismissed her, without words she left the two and found herself a place to rest.

"I assume you two didn't get a kill judging from Jua's behavior." H spoke matter of factly and without much sensitivity for his Queen's feelings.

"You are correct m'lord, we came back empty jawed but we were able to scout out a small herd of zebra heading our way. Perhaps in the evenings Lady Jua and I may go out again and see if we can take one down. I thin-" Queen Malkia had started to explain but a simple look from her King had her stopped mid-sentance, a nod of her head gave him permission to talk without appearing that he was commanding her.

"Lady Jua is not to go hunting, she may scout but no hunting. Those cubs aren't going to rule after us but they will be useful in the future and I will not have them harmed. I'll see to it we are eating well. Now my Queen, please go and rest, tonight you and I can explore our newest expansion and possibly make a few heirs of her our own." His words were sweet as the most tender of meats as he bent forward from his height to rub his head against her's, a warm adoring sound came from her throat as she agreed without words, nodding her head in farewell, heading up toward where Lady Jua had sat down and begun grooming herself. Queen Malkia had laid down, her appearance glowing. As he watched her, Hodari knew he had picked a fine Queen, it wasn't long until he joined the two of them, his own pelt needed a kind grooming.
