Monty wasn't exactly born to anyone - he just sort of happened. Therefore, he doesn't have any parents or close relatives. In his early years as a young "bogeyman" Monty was a loose cannon, seeking to satisfy his appetite for fear in often careless or hostile ways. This could include inflicting bodily harm, destruction of property, and, in rare cases, may have resulted in a missing persons case or two.

Of course, following the great conflict of '83, Monty was swiftly brought down and may have stayed down if not for a kindly Baku woman, Genevieve who took him under her wing as an adoptive parent of sorts. Over the years, Monty has reformed his image and mindset and grown into a big ol' goofy sweetheart. Like an adult trying to recall their baby days, he doesn't seem to remember being such a nasty back in the day. Still, he's fully aware of the kinds of expectations put on him as a bogeyman. In fact, he's quite sensitive about it. Monty seeks to redeem himself and prove that there's no need to be afraid of the monster in the closet - he's really a nice guy! ...Promise...!
Previously lived in a larger city where he made a living for himself and his old woman as a bartender at a nightclub. The job allowed him to build up a great confidence in social settings, and he retains much of that outgoing personality in day-to-day life. When the old lady passed away, he moved to Indieville, looking for a smaller community.

*Although Monty is decently old as a monster, his appearance and mentality seem to reflect those of a guy around his early-to-mid thirties.
His Baku guardian turned him on to using nightmares as an energy source, as the fear can be gained from them without harming the host.
He can slip into his monstrous form freely, but usually won't while in the company of others. Unless provoked. 💪💪
Always seems to show up as soon as someone mentions him.
Has probably eaten a neighbor's pet at some point.
Definitely cried at the end of Titanic.
A secret romantic. Lives for that gushy stuff.
Develops crushes easily, though they aren't always backed up by truly romantic feelings.
His scar is the result of chihuahua attack.
For him, a direct flash of extremely bright light would be the equivalent of being splashed with acid.
