I love the muted colors used in this drawing. I also like the rough sketchy lines on the paper. I have heard of this concept before, and I must say you definitely portrayed it wonderfully.
Showing the connection between the two people really begs the question of how they are connected. I like the fact that we see part of the girl's face, and are left without a single clue of what the guy looks like. I particularly like the details in the clothing, like the patchwork and the red bow... it really brings out the minute amounts of red.
The placement of text is nice, not quite center, and not quite the traditional one-third, and it is in a spot where the eye can generally be drawn to without losing its balance and impact. This is a wonderful piece, and I admire your ability to capture a simple, yet beautiful idea.

Beautiful, one of your best in my opinion, I really like this illustration, and even consider it as a very nice cover if it were cleaned up even more(like the pant legs). I really like the tone to this image, full of nostalgia and I think your story's title, The Paper Stars, is so suiting and perfect. Best of luck and I'm so glad I found your wonderful account!

oh this is so beautiful! I love how you portray the emotion w/o showing the faces... The star on his shirt makes me think of a really tragic love story during the holocaust. Really nicely done

this may or may not be helpful but there is this website www.lulu.com in which you can publish your own novel for free and they sell them on their website. they also have publication packages which you have to pay for that will have your novel sold on websites like amazon.com and barns and nobles. I have a friend who found it helpful.

for this, I used an old title page out of a book of mine for the paper, I used pencil for the drawing and colored pencils for the rest.
