These are Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles and Super Tails. Do you still remind the little Super Saiyan Birds which appeared when Tails transformed? Do you remember that when Tails' rings got zero the birds just turned blue before dissapearing? Amusing ^_^
Knuckles is in fact the best, and is still rocking, and knocking walls in our hearts.

Btw, have you ever tried to defeat the last boss in Sonic 2 with Knuckles? As long as he jumps a little lower than Sonic or Tails, it's a hell more difficult!
