Description A pair of Tyrannosaurus Rex take full advantage of an isolated Alamosaurus from its herd. While not equipped to take down the huge animal by force, the predators have a different idea. Circle and bait the behemoth to make a clumsy mistake on a cluttered ground with scattered fallen trees and stumps.

I would like to think these two animals rarely ran into each other and when they do it's assumed more than likely they left each other alone. However, if the situation presented itself to a hungry predator, this might of been the way it went down.

Modeled in Zbrush, rendered in Keyshot.

Very cool and dynamic look, despite how T Rex weighs close to 9 tons each, a pair of them would still struggle hard against a 50 plus tons super giant.Β

This is epic. And surprisingly accurate to the anatomy, given that it's so epic. Why doesn't Disney hire you instead of those stupid pixar people... 'the good dinosaur' mein arsch! Your work is the real oscar winner.

Not equipped?Β

Β Tyrannosaurus had "bone crushing" jaws for a reason, clearly a bite to one of the back legs would be enough to cripple an Alamosaurus Β enough for these two Tyrannosaurus to finish it off.

A sauropod like Alamosaurus wouldn't just stand by and let a theropod munch it's legs: any sudden movement of a such a large animal would topple even the largest tyrannosaurs over.

XD Lol

I never actually said anything about the Alamosaurus just standing by while a Tyrannosaurus bites the leg, that would be silly. I was trying to imply that one of those Tyrannosaurus could simply move in close, deliver a vicious bite to one of the back legs while the sauropod is rearing back and then let go.

The Alamosaurus would feel immense shock and pain from it's bite wound due to the herbivore's weight putting too much pressure on it when it comes back down. Then, when the chance comes, the other Tyrannosaurus would deliver a bite on the wrist of one of the front legs, causing considerably fatal injury which would weaken the sauropod further to the point where it can no longer sustain itself and end up toppling over to the ground, where the tyrannosaurs would finish it off.

Ah yes, that could work with ~30 tonne individuals, indeed.

Well everyone knows a T. rex had jaws and teeth designed to bite through bone. Small dinosaurs, hadrosaurs, Triceratops, and even other tyrannosaurs would have fall victim to those jaws. However, the sheer size and thickness of a leg bone from an adult Alamosaurus would require a bite force of probably Megalodon or beyond (which was many times more powerful than T. rex). Even if it had the muscle to bite down hard enough, its skull and teeth would shatter before doing any real harm to the gigantic leg bone. Going for the back legs would also make it easy for the Alamosaurus to use its tail to strike the attacker. If a T. rex went in for the kill like that, its best bet would be to bite the ankle/wrist, not to crush bone, but to tear tendons which could end up being fatal for the giant over time.

not to mention trying to bite down on the leg, while the sauropos is trying to kick you

And to top it off: Titanosaurs like Alamosaurus would require not one, but MULTIPLEΒ large Theropods like T. Rex hunting in a mob, or pack. That's why you see images of Carcharadontosaurs hunting in packs to bring down these Titanosaurs.

Hmm, valid point. I guess I was more focused on the strength of the jaws instead of remembering how the teeth worked as well.

PRetty cool!

Of course, Allosaurs and Abelisaurs are better equiped to tackle a sauropod.

Bladed teeth for bleeding prey are better. A bone crushing bite can only do so much when the bones that need crushing are combined with too much muscle to break quickly.

Allosaurs didn't have short skulls. Giganotosaurus was thought to have hunted sauropods in packs on occasion.
