This picture really jumped out at me from your gallery.... I just loved this cat... and reading your author note really makes me sad. I was really hoping to draw him... That is with your permission of course. There are a few others in your gallery I'd like to try and draw as well... Let me know if you are against it. I would be linking the picture back to you of course for supplying me with the material. Thanks.
Meg

You are more than welcome, certainly. I would want to be credited, naturally, but I would also prefer the amur leopard be identified by name. My logic is that it is more his beauty than my talent so if anything, he should be credited...I merely took the shot.
Do have fun and let me know when you are finished, I would love to see what you come up with!

He is currently part of a species survival plan... he has made many babies, but he currently is not with a mate right now. Hopefully, he will get one soon. The problem is, there is only about 200 in captivity so it will be difficult to find someone he is not significantly related to.

Many of us will only admire these creatures from afar. You actually get up close and personal...
You've chosen an exciting and interesting path for yourself.
Less than thirty.... man, we suck as stewards of teh planet.

Conservation can be very distant and impersonal. However, my intial push to do something about my concerns for the tiger was based on a very personal experience. It is hard for me to move forward without having the inspiration that comes from developing relationships with individuals of the species you are trying to save. It keeps you going.

Thank you. I am glad that you feel that way...Texas especially is home to a large number of big cats in private homes, stuck with owners who don't always take good care of them.

I'll tell anyone who will listen and many who don't that I think an individual has NO business owning a big cat. Texas is very bad for this. I've never understood the mentality of the people, but then again I'm not from here just have been here so long that I'm kinda glad I don't understand them.
It's also one of the reasons why I've done dog/cat rescue for so many years because many people here also think of them the same way, well you know what I mean.
Glad to know that you are promoting a better understanding of the large cats!!!

Oh dear lord, that is beautiful. I've only ever seen a couple Amur leopards, but they are absolutely stunning cats. Definitely a fave.
