Description
Here is my interpretation of the titular magic lamp from the story of Aladdin and the Magic Lamp from the 1001 Arabian Nights.Note: Now its said that the lamp is old and tarnished, something that you wouldn't expect to hold an all powerful jinn. Heck, the whole point of the lamp being hidden in the cave was that anyone who manages to get in would be distracted by the other treasures and leave the lamp behind. For my interpretation, I was inspired by an African oil lamp which can be seen here. www.eganbronze.com/Images/7thm… Only difference is that I left out the circle patterns and gave it a lid.

Very interesting. If you were trying to go for the theme of a simple, common-looking object, you really got to hit the mark. Though the design of the lamp itself is very cool, it does still look so simple, plain, and uninteresting that hardly anyone would consider it special. Makes it all the more intriguing when someone aka Aladddin, does take the lamp, and summons the Jinn/Genie. After all, as a certain peddler once said: " do not be fooled by its commonplace appearance. Like so many things, it is not what is outside: but what is inside that counts."

I'm glad you like it. I was originally gonna make it more extravagant, but then gave me some advice so I went a different route instead. That, and I remembered the sorcerer's "new lamps for old" scheme he pulled later on in the story.

Well, i can see the merit. After all, from what i've heard: oil lamps aren't supposed to be anything special. And as such, help convey the message of "it's what's inside that matters" for the stories (aka each version which conveys the message). Though that last bit sounds interesting. Guess i should look it up to know everything about that.
