Description Hi there ,
Little present for those who adore wolves as much as me

Tools: Pencil, another pencil and pencil (H, 2B, 9B). And mechanical pencil (HB). It was the first time when I tried my new Derwent 9B pencil. And I have to say- nothing special I've just noticed that I use the word pencil too often.. Well, besides that THIN GRAPHITE THING, I also used eraser, cotton wool and a photo reference..
Time: the fur took me forever..
Size: A4.
Frames: added with Microsoft Photo Editor.
Paper: white and rectangular (wow)

*sits down, puts the hands on the knees, stares at the computer and silently waits for comments*

Bye-bye!

Outstanding as per usual... I actually find myself inspired by your works at the same time as being put off!

One request however, I am looking at starting a drawing of a wolf, could you spare some advise for fur?

Drawing fur sometimes can be really killing I used rubber cuts for light hair, sharp pencil for dark hairs, blended a lot, tried to draw in layers.

Gareque In reply to heyhou [2011-07-25 14:23:02 +0000 UTC]

Cool. I generally try to do similar, but blending is something new to me with pencil art and I haven't quite got the art of blending small area's right. Still... As with all things, practise makes perfect!

Wow!!! That is totally AWESOME!!! I love it!! I thought it was a photograph in black and white until I read your comment. That is soooooooo good, you could probably enter it in the 'wildlife photographer of the year' competition and they wouldn't even notice! Ilove it - oops I already said that, oh well, still love it x 10000000000!

Hi there! I'm just browsing traditional drawings of wildlife to see some of the styles and techniques that people here use for fur. I think that you have this down. The wolf looks very realistic and I can only imagine that for this detail you took a lot of time. Great job this looks amazing!

heyhou In reply to Kio-sama [2010-02-14 17:53:25 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much Yeah, it took quite much time, but still it was worth Each time you get more experience. Other time you do the same thing much faster.

You're welcome! Yes that is very true. I would like to learn to draw this way. Someone in a store saw a drawing of a deer I did, put it for sale and wants more. Unfortunately I don't have experience drawing animals haha I am not very good at it. Sooo I am looking. You are very good.

You're right, it did I'd even regretted that I started this drawing. But still this work had a happy ending Thank you very much

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

07Frank In reply to heyhou [2009-01-26 14:42:29 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah I perfectly know that feeling. When I started with "hope" I was really keen to draw feathers. Well at the end I was quite happy to be done with them

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

heyhou In reply to 07Frank [2009-01-26 14:48:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I feel this almost every time I sit at a paper with pencil in my hand And what is more annoying that I'm almost every time unhappy with the result. I should lock my pencils somewhere deep in the catchall one day.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

07Frank In reply to heyhou [2009-01-26 15:04:42 +0000 UTC]

If we wouldn't find things that we dislike in our finished drawings we wouldn't ever improve. So I try to avoid these mistakes in my next drawing and enjoy the progress I made comparing to an older one of mine!

heyhou In reply to 07Frank [2009-01-26 15:23:52 +0000 UTC]

I guess you are right again. We can never be perfect, the process of improvement is endless.
