Description It's been about 2 months since my last submission. Well, I took the time and had a cup of tea with my artistic-side. We chatted a lot, shared laughter, and met on some agreements.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anywho, I have to say that Burstman is amongst the challenging RM's to get an EXE counterpart from me; alongside Centaurman, Sheepman, Geminiman, Splashwoman, and Crashman.

I was going through some official artwork of viruses and I came across that octopus virus you meet only in Battle Network 2. I got my inspiration for Burstman's design from that. Then, I was rereading some mangas I had in my room during my vacation, one of them was Buso Renkin, and the character Yamamura's alchemy weapon "Bubble Cage" gave me more ideas.
I'll give more details about him in a character bio, once I figure out how to use flash.
His navi mark is bothering me a little bit. But that's the best I could come up with the represent his theme. As for the background, I originally planed just a bunch of spheres/balloons floating around over a tiled floor; but it turned out boring and ugly. So I decided to go with a festive looking background.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enjoy

This is Burstman as a NetNavi?Β

I decided to go with a balloon since his robot master attacks were similar to bubbleman.

Huh, this is a very interesting design. It'd be cool to see him with different-colored balloons with corresponding elements.

The idea of the Octon family of viruses actually brings to mind an idea for one of his attacks: Burstman enters the center of Megaman's area and his head begins to inflate. After a few seconds it explodes, dealing damage--10 at base, but the more Megaman deals damage to him the more damage is added to the "balloon pop" attack, the only exception being if Mega uses a damage-evading technique like Invis or if he manages to stun Burstman. That or an iteration of his "Danger Wrap", encasing Megaman in a spherical balloon that saps his health over time (like poison tiles or the Anubis chip) Β and can only be popped if Burstman attacks him again, or he deals a certain amount of damage to the balloon. Just thoughts, of course.

Dunno about the adaptation accuracy, but at the very least, he could have an interesting fight gimmick what with his head being a balloon.Β  If every hit pops it till it regrows some seconds later, the megabuster would be next to useless except for charge shots.Β  Combine that with some field control elements (like bomb balloons or something floating over to Megaman's side of the battleground) and another attack or two and you'd have one legit boss here.

Help and hint, when making navi counterparts: Try looking, what does robot masters like. For example with Burst man, he likes fireworks and using his weapon as fireworks. You have done his navi counterpart to resemble his favorite thing in balloon form. I like fancy clothing he has.

Well to be fair, it's nothing new. Official Net Navis like ElecMan, StoneMan, FlameMan, PlantMan, StarMan, SwordMan, and Needleman look a who lot different than their Robot Master counterparts.

this is one of your best transitions from classic to EXE. you altered from bubbles to balloons, while staying true to the general theme of the RM. Keep up the good work

Food for thought: suppose you kept his aquatic theme, by giving him water-filled balloons as well?

Yes, the blue is a water balloon (water element) and the red is a hot air balloon (fire element), while the purple is just a wind element

How did this "Bubble Cage" give you ideas and what kind were they? What happened to the fireworks-like navi mark? Is he of the aqua element? If he isn't, then what is his element?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Higure-san In reply to KurseofKings [2012-06-13 22:34:51 +0000 UTC]

If you take a look at the anime or manga, the "bubble cage" controls countless "balloons" with these creepy smiles on them. Burstman would do the same thing except his balloons have different faces on them and each balloon does a separate thing.

I originally planned for him to be a fire works navi, but I contemplated and decided not to since Napalmman already existed. So i decided to go with balloons; still festive, just like fire works.

He doesn't have an element, unless you consider those extra battle chip types (sword, wind, invisible, lock-on, healing, break, add/minus,ornament) In which case he'd be Wind. Although, his balloons have different elements; The purple happy balloon contains wind, the sad blue balloon ice(water), and the red angry balloon is fire.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

KurseofKings In reply to Higure-san [2012-06-13 23:22:36 +0000 UTC]

Does he have an attack called "Balloon Parade” in which he releases many balloons at once that get in your way? I only ask because this netnavi ( [link] ) has the exact same attack.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Higure-san In reply to KurseofKings [2012-06-13 23:38:54 +0000 UTC]

No he doesn't. But it is an interesting concept.
In game format, in battle with him, he would constantly send out different balloons down each row. Kinda like in BN6 Eraseman (Killerman) would send those shadow things at you, except Burstman wouldn't do it as constantly. The balloons act like Numberman's number ball attack where you have to inflict damage to the balloon equal or greater than the health number on it in order to destroy it. Otherwise it'll explode when it reaches the back column.
