That does make a lot of sense for Snip's cutie mark. I guess now we know how Snips and Snails got that gum off. Looks like this isn't going to be Pipsqueak's talent, though. Trying to cut hair with a toy sword isn't likely to succeed.

Also doesn't help that Flitter thinks it's a REAL sword.
Yeah, it's a bit too bad for Snails -- I get that their names are a reference to 'snips and snails and puppy dog tails' but from a logical standpoint a pony named "Snips" which sounds like a term for getting your hair cut anyway, plus that cutiemark, there's really no denying his talent would involve being a barber. Or more mundane and general 'cutting' talent, but I can't think of anything else that'd really fit a career that involves a pair of scissors. Poor Snails... what could he possibly do with his life? I can't think of another pony off the top of my head that has another animal as a cutiemark. Will he have to devote his life to raising snails for one reason or another? Maybe he could strike it rich selling them to fancy Canterlot restaurants for escargot, but I imagine he wouldn't want to see the little guys meet such a fate! It's definitely interesting to think about.
Also, both the discussions I've had with you thus far have involved cutiemarks. You'll be my go-to guy when I need help coming up with an OC's eventual mark, probably -- as a matter of fact, I have a little unicorn colt I've been playing in a MUSH for a week or two now that's currently a blank flank despite being quite old to still be one, older than the CMC and all. I dunno where I'll go with that, though it partially helps to keep him as-is for now since his defining characteristic is being adorably awkward.

I don't think selling escargot to ponies would work due to the simple fact that ponies are herbivores. However, I can't really think of what a snail cutie mark might represent other than 'talented with snails'. As for other ponies with animal cutie marks, the most obvious one would be Fluttershy. But other than her, the only one I can think of is the non-canonical Velvet Remedy, who appears in the fanfic Fallout: Equestria. Her cutie mark is a singing bird, which represents her own singing talent.

Fluttershy's cutiemark is incredibly vague and almost seems more like just a butterfly pattern to imply her personality and such than her special talent (except maybe being nice and gentle [to animals particularly] like a butterfly? I dunno). It doesn't feel like an 'animal' really -- but snails' is a big snail with big fat eyes and everything. It's like... aliiiive.
And I didn't even think of the whole herbivore thing, I guess I find it hard to believe even though I know it's true, considering how humanlike they are and vegetarian humans are rare compared to the omnivorous ones. Well, as a species we are omnivorous in general anyway, and the ponies in FiM are made to seem so much like us, haha.
And there are surely billions and billions of OC ponies out there with all kinds of ridiculous cutiemarks, so non-canon doesn't count at all. Especially ones from massive grimdark fanfics that most of us will never read~

I have discovered another pony with a legitimate animal cutie mark: Sea Swirl. Her cutie mark is a pair of dolphins circling around each other. However, as a background pony, the show hasn't given any details about what her mark might actually represent.
