- Both are morally righteous red, white and blue heroes that hail from another world and are capable of transforming

- They, alongside a handful of their friends and allies, arrived to Earth and now serve as protectors for the planet

- Both have iconic red and yellow friends that are always at the ready to help them (Knuckles and Tails for Sonic and Ironhide and Bumblebee for Optimus)

- Both also have a pink themed love interest (Amy for Sonic and Elita-1 for Optimus)

- Throughout media, both have also fought against their dark doppelgangers (Metal Sonic and Nemesis Prime)

- Their main foe is a being who’s main focus is on world domination, and orders an army of mechanical beings (Eggman and Megatron)

- They both have access to artifacts that make them significantly stronger (The Chaos Emeralds and The Matrix of Leadership)

- On certain occasions, they have encountered world ending threats which had forced them to ally with their foes to defeat said threats (Solaris and The End for Sonic, which had lead to him teaming up with Eggman for the former and with Sage for the latter, and Unicron for Optimus, who had forced him and all other Autobots to band together with the Decepticons to defeat him)

- Both have some absolute banger music that just can’t seem to ever miss, with a specific song featured in their series being viewed as ‘their’ theme specifically (His World is most commonly considered the theme for Sonic, and The Touch is viewed as the theme song of Optimus Prime)

- Both have had the word ‘Prime’ linked to their names in some way (For Sonic, it happened through the Sonic Prime show, and Optimus is pretty self-explanatory)

- Their series’ have also had comics created and distributed by IDW
