The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from one-sided love, where the patient throws up and coughs of flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. The infection can be removed through surgery, but the victim's memories of that person - and the feelings towards that person - disappear along with the petals.

In this AU, John and Dave are roommates in university. Dave ends up falling in love with John, but since John is completely oblivious (Dave doesn't change his attitude towards John), Dave contracts the Hanahaki disease. He's torn between confessing to John and keeping it secret out of fear that John may reject him, so he manages to hide it for two months. Finally, John finds out after Dave has the urge to vomit. He ends up vomiting blood and flowers in his room, and John gets worried. He finds out when he enters Dave's room.
