Description This is a CQB helm I made for a friend. I still need to fiberglass and paint it (he's buying paint, I'm not paying for it.)

I built the exact same model as that person (im pretty sure) and the opening is a little snug (you can make it wider if you need to. I didn't and I have a big head) but once I put it on it's roomy and fits my head well. (meaning it dosen't slide around when I move my head.)

The download link is rite here, www.4shared.com/file/r-CdKBZZ/…

But you have to make an account but that shouldn't take too long.

Happy papercrafting!

Yes, yes and yes! Check out [link] for information and tutorials on how to make Pepakura armor like this helmet. You can find models here: [link]

Just check out the stickies on the forums to get you started.

thanks man!i already found the 405th!!!

oh god im so phycked!

but i have a problem.im from greece and here people live in apartments and the only way i can do this is to rent an apartment(probably a basement) and go buy everything to turn it into a work shop (cause i dont think im gonna stop on one armor only)...and thats very costly...

i'll post a thread in the forums in case i find someone in my country that does that thinkg...2 people are always better than one.

anyway thanks for the info although after i saw your pic i googled and found the 405th...

Good luck with your armor building! If you have any questions feel free to ask.

I like the idea of a workshop, but you don't really need one. That'd be really nice but it's no problem if you can't get one. I did most of the Pepakura model building on the floor in my room, and I did all of the fiberglassing and such on my back porch.

Since this is (I'm assuming) your first Pepakura model I'd start with something small and easy like a forearm or a thigh. My first one was a helmet and it turned out really bad because I wasn't used to anything too complicated. You'll pick it up pretty quickly though! My glue of choice is hot glue, but a lot of people use super glue. Hot glue is nice because it's easy to apply and it dries quickly.

I can't think of any other tips off the top of my head. Good luck though!

i need to ask something...i found a great tutorial for armor scaling but since you already done a cqb (its a little rare for people to make cqbs...) can you tell me witch pep you used?maybe give me a link and if you are that awesome maybe even tell me how you did the scaling on the helmet?

i have no problem with the armor...

i just cant find anyone who made a cqb helmet so you're my only hope!

or else im doomed to make many helmets till i find the best size and i think you know how frustrating that is.

I forgot to mention, you can find a hell of a lot of pep files at the wiki, here: [link]

I think I used Slyfo's CQB helm, but I have no clue what sizing I used. I really wish I could remember how I did that. I probably just tried using whatever size the Mark VI was. I remember my helm was a decent size, it was just a little wide but I think that's just how the helmet shape is.

If you try and go with the Mark VI sizing make sure it's a similar size in cm, because the actual size of the model might be different than the Mark VI and the number used for sizing is a percentage.

Again, I'm sorry I can't help out more. Most of my sizing was guesstimation.

I did find the scale I used for my Mark VI suit though, which was 25.04979. I'm about 5'9". It's still probably best to do the math and size it to your height if you haven't already.

Anything else I can help with?

ok thanks!no sweat!

im just asking for ideas and opinions to see what different approches there are.

right now im gonna start with a scaling tutorial from a guy from the 405th and make some low quality pep test just to be sure for the size.

i'll pm you when i start to have results with the peps ... just hear your opinion.

until then thanks for all the help!

HJC RST replacement visor. Online they run about $50-$60, but if there's a motorcycle shop near you you can get them for about half that.

HLTru7h In reply to DieAndBeholdMyWrath [2008-05-14 17:55:01 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... Maybe. Do you just want the helmet? I can do a helmet easy. The rest of the armor I could do, but it's really hard to get sized because it's not made for human use.

I have the pattern for a simple Halo 2 helmet, but I might be able to get a hold of one for Halo 3. I'll let you know if I can. Check my gallery and I have a pic of the Elite armor I was working on.
